  • Ok so bear with me you guys!

Hi my name is Joanie :)

I just recently found this page and started becoming very active in the youtube community. Haven't posted any videos yet, but I have always wanted to, and get a set up with the facecam and have a good ole time playing some vidja games.

Here's my question: I want to basically know what I will need and whats the best in y'all opinions software wise, how to do thumbnails etc. I KNOW there is a thread here some-FREAKING-where in here that explains it in detail for people who aren't so tech-savvy :pinch:

I really want to know why alot of people on here say they use Fraps AND Sony Vegas Pro. Do you need both (one for webcam other for recording the game footage itself)? I am not tech savvy lol Now my husbands ALOT more tech savvy than me but I am delving into a realm that even he hasn't crossed ever.

I know people use photoshop to make their thumbnails look cute, but do any of you use something different, or is photoshop like the MOST recommended source?

I just really want a feel of what I need to get, and how to do it, before I make my channel.

THANK YOU FOR READING ^^

  • You will find that FRAPS and Bandicam are the best to use for capturing PC game footage. Bandicam also uses less CPU and makes smaller files. I have also found the Bandicam can record some older games unlike FRAPS such as Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death. So really Bandicam is the preferred choice. I use a mixture of both though depending on my needs. FRAPS for UI and Bandicam for older games.

If you are just starting out then use Windows Movie Maker, which comes with Windows for...well...FREE! Sure you won't have any awesome editing tools like image and audio overlays but you can lower and heighten the mic and footage volume, add transitions, cut sections of video and even add text. It basically gives you the start up tools to play around with videos.

Photoshop is preferred for making thumbnails because it is easy to use and gives you lots and lots of awesome editing tools to make your pictures look like your own. You could use Paint, or something but you will get more notice if the thumbnail is made manually with photo manipulation and even your own artwork.
There is always time for muffins.
  • I figured I would have to use photoshop. I have heard stories about how sucky windows media maker is compared to bandicam and fraps so ill be useing those two I just wanted to see if anyone used anything else I guess LOL
