  • Improving FPS [ Help ]

    Hello everyone

    I got an 2x2 Ram DDR3Graphic Card : Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti DirectCU II OC 2GB DDR5 192-bit
    Processor : intel Core i7-3770 ( 3.40GHz,~ 3.9GHz )
And i am not yet satisfied by the fps which i get in games.
My question for you is: If i upgrade my ram from 4gb to -> 6gb or 8gb will it help my pc to increase some fps ?
Thanks for you attention and i wait your answer!

EDIT:I record my gameplays that's why i want more fps
  • No. RAM affects your computer's capibility to multitask. 4GB RAM is more than enough for MOST of the gamers and general users, in my opinion. I feel like anything over 8GB is a waste (in case of gaming, of course RAM matters in some other things - but you don't have to care for it).

Your GPU/Video Card/Graphics Card is what will mainly affect your FPS at this moment. Having a quick glance at your processor, it seems very capable, more than enough for most games. Even your graphics card is very good for gaming. If you're not satisfied with the FPS, make sure you're not

[*] Using anti aliasing (AA), which will murder your FPS.
[*] Using AA on a high resolution.

If you were using AA, removing it will give you a VERY significant and highly noticible boost in FPS. Try optimising the graphics settings to get a good and stable 50-55+ fps, and your game will be smooth enough.

If you still insist on getting an upgrade, the graphics card is the only area you can improve on, but make sure that your CPU wouldn't be a bottleneck. Make sure that the card will work well with your processor and stuff, and always look at benchmarks (especially FPS benchmarks) while buying new cards.

Oh, and, the total amount of memory on graphics cards will usually not affect the FPS much at all. Higher numbers don't always mean better. To find what's best for you, the best idea is to compare and look around the interwebs.

    Hope I helped. ^^
  • First of all. i7-3770 + 660 Ti = 60FPS and more for MOST Games and you're not fucking satisfied!? What games are you playing anyway? Are you playing @ 1920x1080? If so, then downgrade it to 1280x720 and you'll get higher FPS. Don't maximize MSAA, and just use FXAA if it's available.

Ram, it may help since Fraps is a ram hog. And it will help especially on multiplayer. Based on a friend who plays BF3. But 8GB is enough. 8GB DDR3 1600.

No, I'm not angry. What games are you playing anyway? 60FPS is a-okay. If you want everything on Max. 680 or 7970 Ghz edition.
  • Some things to keep in mind for recording.

Youtube has a MAX FPS of 30FPS, so even if you record at a higher FPS, people won't be able to see it. It would be to your advantage to just play at 30FPS since the file sizes will be considerably smaller.

Also, to put it in a very non technical way, Fraps basically takes whatever frame rate your computer would make, and takes half of it for itself to record. Which results in you viewing half the frame rate your computer would usually have when not recording while you are playing.

So if you want to be playing and recording at 60FPS, you will have to set fraps to record at 120FPS.

But like I said earlier, Your viewers will not notice any frame rate higher than 30 FPS since youtube compresses videos down to 30 FPS when they are uploaded. But if you feel like using up all that extra storage space to have 60FPS recordings, be my guest.
  • So the problem here is that you dont know how to record the gameplay. With this machine it ll be very easy to get more than 100 fps in all games. It depends in what resolution u play.If u play in bigger than 1080p maybe the fps will be lower.Or if u play at 2-3 monitors. And u must put fraps at higher fps,but as u see youtube make to 30fps so im sugesting you just put it on 60-70 is fine to be happy when u play. You ll now notice the higher fps.And if u playing at high resolution ur ram will be all used,so look at the task manager when u play.Just make the game in window and see in the manager.
And what is your ram?1600mhz?corsair,adata?g skill? And what latency she have ?9?
