    Lamia Nox

Its a horror/Puzzle/Adventure game made in RPG Maker VX Ace by TheRexman221

Laura is a 14-year-old who likes to do anything that a normal young teen would do. But...her life is changed for the worse. One night, Laura awakens to darkness and candles. With the help of a lamp she finds nearby, she continues through her own home to find the remains of what it used to be like. The house is empty and cold. It is as if no one has lived there for years. When Laura leaves her home and ventures outside, the world is white and snow covers the land. The only thing to do is go forward into the nearby forest, and that is where the real fear begins to sink in. "Lamia Nox" is Latin for "Witch Night". The forest holds secrets that are not meant to be found out.

  • i played this game already..
it reminds me of my old game..
sad thing also because it uses the sounds of the witches house...
even the sound the originally created by fummy (creator of the witch house) for the music box was used
its a bit thumbs down for me
there are lot of free public domain music there to use anyway
  • Hello. I am the creator of Lamia Nox. I am glad to see everyones feedback on the game. I see that some like it and some do not. I am proud to say that most of these problems you have been posting on giving out thanks in the credits to users whom I may have used there scripts and music. To one person they stated that I was not allowed to use the items used in the files of The Witch's House. I indeed used sound effects and music from that game. I am happy to say, though, you tried to make a thumbs down on a false notion. Music is not considered to be a recourse. It is also available on the site as one commenter said. I may use the music as I like. I don't have to even put their names in the credits of the game. I will, on the other hand, do so. All of your poor givin statment have been resolved and fixed. Please look forward to my next game that will be coming out later this year.

ehem yes its available in fummy's site
but read what he said in the readme.txt of the game witchs house

    "

REUSE OF RESOURCES USED IN THE GAME IS PROHIBITED.

there where only 4 music in that site... and you used whole music of the witch house..
WHICH it was stated in the usage warning NOT TO REUSE the resources

    and for the scripts.
    "
I don't have to even put their names in the credits of the game" ?(
big words u got there... so u credited urself for the scripts and making the song/music? its like ur saying ur the who coded the script and composed the music..
    srsly?

if you say that u will credit them thats good
but pls.. this great games are for free.. at least follow the SIMPLE RULES that the creators gave to us
anyway good luck to ur new game..

  • I did not use all of the music from the House. I only used two songs and one sound effect. Also to be considered a resource it musted be placed in the "graphics" folder of a game. You will find this out when you put nearly a year of your life into a game like I have.

I feel like I should tell you why I didn't like your game. It was too quick, everything. To me, horror games should be slow paced.
I would go to the library to find books that would reveal more of the story, but found nothing. The story wasn't interesting, although it had an interesting twist, you didn't take advantage of it.
I got disappointed when, before entering the forest, there were red trees and I thought that it would be custom tile set, and it would have been interesting to use red trees for the forest, but it seems you preferred to use the regular ones.
The jump scares were not interesting, in fact, I was already expecting them...
The maps were not all that interesting as well...
But maybe this was your first game! So I shouldn't be too severe with you.
But it would have been interesting if you had taken bigger risks, making a more complex story and playing with events.
    This is just my opinion.

    lol
AUDIO.GRAPHICS AND FONTS are all RESOURCES...
it doesnt need to be in the graphics folder to be called recources (as i said its one of those kinds)

i know how to use vx ace.. nor how to use resources in proper ways (Giving credits to the real owner)
the screenshot was found in this rpg maker vx ace forums
a proof that audio is counted as a resources..

    rpgmakervxace.net/forum/39-resource-headquarters/

fummy didnt state a specific resources
REUSE OF RESOURCES USED IN THE GAME IS PROHIBITED. (ans so the resources he is talking about is all the materials used)

are u really a game developer? :whistling:

  • I do realize that the game was rather short. It was a game made for a school project. I am already remaking the game with better graphics and more story so look forward to that. And to the jerks who keeps belittling my work... Dude... Please grow up and act like a socialized person. Think for a second here and realize that even though you are bickering I am still getting bigger and bigger on the Internet :) obviously I am a game developer hence the successful game I released. Nice try on trying to act all high and mighty sir. And again the game is being remade into a bigger game. The music will be made for me specifically. Thank you all who have played it and on the feedback even though the dude trying to make me feel bad is literally doing nothing. :)

I'm sorry but he is right. If you are using content that is not your own, you should be crediting the people who make it. It is illegal, and if the owners wanted to, they could make your life really hard. It's a good thing it's free to play, if you were making money, you'd be in a tonne of legal trouble.

Read his FAQ. It specifically says not reuse his work without his specific permission.

The game was honestly never ment to get this big. The "game" itself is done. I released what you would call a very big demo. I Knew the music would have been a problem. My composer refused to make my music on time. I am currently, as I have said before, remaking the game. The game is, however, still available for download. Nevertheless, that does not give your friend the right to belittle my work. He has no idea how long it took to make thigs right. When he makes a game that gets as big as mine, then I will respect him. Due to the way he acted and even doubted that I was a designer made me angry beyond belief. He needs to watch his words. But, like I said before, I still get to sit back and watch my company grow from a high mountain. Now there is no need to talk about the music problem again due to the fact that it is being resolved.
