    • A cool idea for a horror game?

Alright, I'm a bit new here, so I'll try to explain this the best I can. It's the first time that I've actually expressed ideas to make a video game, since my main focus is movies, but I enjoy playing them and will occasionally sprout some thoughts for one. So..here it goes.

Basically, my idea is to create a game where you have to put back the pieces of a monster's heart together in order to make him whole again, so to speak. This won't be done the traditionally magical way where the heart pieces look like gems or shiny stuff. A surgeon must somehow sew the pieces back together again and somehow make the brutal and insane monster go to sleep in order to give him a heart transplant. Who's the monster, you might ask? It's this guy here...

This abomination of a monster is called Lazgul (pronounced Laz-Ghoul). He has a horse-like head, tentacles and deformed appendages, and eyeballs...in the wrong places.

Genre: 2D survival horror, rpg, strategy

      Story:

You are Alek Abistur, the grandson of an old doctor named Fred Abister who's retired from his days of being a surgeon. One day, in your house you become dragged into a seemingly abandoned underground lab from the basement freezer by a hideous monster after trying to grab a popsicle. The monster would've killed you if it wasn't for your grandfather saving you in the nick of time. He explains how he used to be a scientist that used to fabricate different creatures together by means of surgery. Near the end of his years, he decided to use humans as experiments, hoping to give them the abilities of certain animals, such as the night-vision of a cat or the agility and speed of a sight hound. They were small and simple at first with no serious negative effects from the surgery, eventually being successful in his goal of fabricated humans. One day, his assistant, Morley, offered to become part of the last and grand experiment, and he agreed. Something went terribly wrong in the experiment and he lost most of his heart during the surgery. He's always kept him locked up to prevent him from endangering the outside world. Now the monster has broken loose and blocked the only known exit out. He can't be killed by normal means. The only way to stop him is to make him "human" again by obtaining the rest of his heart that has been torn to pieces and scattered about the underground lab and have Fred sew it back together and surgically put it back inside him.

      What You Must Do:

The objective of the game is to find all the pieces of Lazgul's(Morley's) heart and surgically implant it back in his chest.

      Obstacles:

Lazgul is your main obstacle in the game. He will be constantly on to you, but not in the way Fred describes. Sometimes he simply chases you until your dead, but other times he's more subtle by trying to trick you into making seemingly bad decisions. Other than Lazgul, there are other enemies you will encounter as well, which consists mostly of unleashed fabricated animals that you can kill. Some of the beast's attacks can cause you to have hallucinations which can severely effect your gameplay depending on how you react to them. These obstacles can lead you into traps or scary events that may kill you.

      Items:
You can obtain certain weapons throughout the game that are used to defeat certain monsters that can't be killed with your basic weapon, a scalpel. Other items you obtain are mostly essentials that are needed to progress, with the exception of collectible items, that can actually effect the game's ending. You can collect medications and and popsicles. The game has different endings depend on how many medications you obtain. Collect popsicles to improve your health. If you collect all of both, you obtain a secret scene after the ending.

      Other Characters:
There are other characters that you meet along the way that are also fabrications, but not your enemy. They will often help you after preforming specific deeds, most that seem unintentional. A few characters are essential to the story and will even join your party to help with your progression.

I hope this idea sounds cool, I think it does. I'm not sure how original it is, but I still think this would be something that people would enjoy playing. What do you bros think? Should I go through the effort to create something like this?
Only I can change my world...
    • Sounds pretty darn amazing, if you ask me.

I love the thought and effort you put into this, and it seems like this game is going to go pretty far.

Just reading, I have a few suggestions. Make sure to make things fast-paced. The last thing I'd want to play is a game like Amnesia, where it's the same monster chasing you over and over again. I noticed that you included hallucinations, and different enemies, and I applaud you for that. Another thing is to make sure the encounters with the monster you've created is scary, because if, like you said, it follows you everywhere you go, it might get boring sometimes.

Anyways, I have really high expectations for this game of yours! Looks fantastic. c:
    • The sketch of the monster is wonderful. I like the shading and the fact that it's pretty unconventional, with its body parts at the wrong places.

As far as the story is concerned, I did find it similar to mad father, but that would be like saying chrono trigger is similar to FF vi. All horror game stories have a similarity in theme, but this one has its own uniqueness too. Otherwise, the story seemed pretty intriguing.

I think you can go ahead with it. Yes, the hallucinations adds an innovation I'd look forward to. I'd play it for sure.
    • I love the literal putting the heart back together. It's brilliant.

It sounds really good and I look forward to seeing some screens. I'd love to see a section of the game where you are actually stitching it back together: like a cross between Amnesia and Trauma Centre.
