Mirillis Action! is really great program. It's cheap, recording games, any part or whole desktop. I've got many FPS in Full HD, it records sound in good quality and video files are way smaller than from Fraps. I was looking a lot for ideal recording program and finally this is perfect for me.

I was told DxTory was meant to be a good video recorder but after using it for a few videos I really didnt like it so I switched back to Fraps and probably wont change

I use Fraps for gameplay then if I wish to do a facecam because I am playing horror game then I use windows movie maker. Probably not the best way to do it but it is cheap and there are certain things I like about it. The only problem is getting them in sync.Check me out on YouTube! Well,it depends.
Bandicam-Free(but it has a watermark and 10 min limit),and also great.Full screen recording and great HD quallity(720p only)
Fraps-Super large files-1 minute is like 1GB.Dont get it
Camtasia-Great for online games and even video editing.Cant record full screen though

There really isn't the "best" program for recording. It's just matter of opinion.
Like, a good recorder(person) can record good footage with bad recorder. But a bad recorder(person) can't record good footage with good recorder.
But, i personally like Fraps

I don't record PC games however from all the software I have looked at (because I will record some in the future) I would highly recommend FRAPS
For consoles Sony Vegas or Roxio HD Pro are good and both easy to use "Life is too short to spend it moping around, so sit back and enjoy the ride"

Well, most of gamers use Fraps. But, if you will record for 10-20 minutes, you need 30-50 gb HDD space. But if you set your FPS to 15-20, then file is smaller. I use Fraps, 30 FPS. And, you need to have 2 or more GB of ram.

DXtory is the best. 0 frames lost. Fraps you always lose like 5 even with a high end computer on a crappy flash game lol
