Hello bros , I need help with my PC ;(

This isn't the first time this problem is appearing.

So... I'm using my computer like always and sometimes (mostly in-games) I hear a strange "bum" sound thro my headphones and the screen freezes. I tryed waiting , alt tabing , CTRL+ALT+DEL , but my pc doesn't respond.

Then I decide to restart with the button on my PC. Looks ok for some time , but after couple of seconds I get a message :

"A disk read error occured. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart"

I restarted my pc and got the same problem couple of times.

I decided to turn off the power for my pc and then turn back on , and it worked , untill I started playing again...

It kept saying the same , but after some tryes , it said "Disk Error" .

Now i'm afraid to play , cause I think my games causes this problem :/

    Help would be appreciated! :S

Oh and , no need to copy and paste stuff from webs, I already tryed searching for solutions , but I'm not really good with PC's (as in parts , bios and so)

  • I would like to know what graphics card and what processor you have and stuff. The whole system. Maybe your PC just sucks at games and thats why it freezes. :)

Its a New PC I have...

    Processor : AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 550 (2CPU's), ~3.1GHz

    RAM : 8GB RAM

Graphics card : NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

It was lright for sometime , then it appears again.

  • And in which games does this "new" PC freeze? Also tell me the graphics settings and the resolution you play on. I totally wouldn't recommend to play most new games on this PC at all.
  • what i feel like doing to my shitty laptop..... always having to set game graphics to low

    I use my screen resolution : 1280x1024

4 times in a row today was on Call Of Duty : Modern warfare 2

    I play on highest settings , anti-aliasing x2, 1280x1024 res .

This problem didin't happen for like 3 months now. But now its back, and IDK why. Everything was perfectly fine before :|

It's probably because you played a shitty game.

Don't have anything else fun what to play X(

  • MW2 should be ok on that system. Maybe disable Anti-Aliasing, it eats most of the performance. Tune the graphics. And check if there are any other programs running. On a dual core cpu you should not do that much of multi-tasking. By the way... the mw2 servers are still running? I thought Activision has set them down.

They took off the alteriwnet. I'm playing legit :D

Ok, I will try turning off Anti-Aliasing. Thank you for your big help, bro!

Seems like an HDD problem. And it's not pretty new either but can play COD games at max. Anyways, unplug all from your mobo then replug it. It also depends. what's your procie and gpu temps?

    Download:
    MSI Afterburner to know
    and
    CPUID monitor

    And msi kombustor
intel burn test. (i think it also works to AMD procie?)
yea, i tryed replugging my HDD.
My SATA HDD is pretty old, so :x

I know but the legit servers where down too for a week or so. I thought that would be the case forever. But now I'm downloading mw2 again. I sent you a friend request on steam.

@karlsanada10 never thought about a HDD problem. But could be.
