What do you render in? Help

I've been rendering in Sony Vegas for some time now in 1080p WMV format. And it takes me foreverrr to get done that. Like 3 hours for a half hour video, i heard that AVI is a lot quicker with the same results. Is this true? And if not what do you render in and would recommend? Please help because it would help out my channel a lot if i could upload more frequently and i can't do that if i have to wait around for 3 hours. Thanks to anyone that can help me out or give me some useful knowledge!

Save as type: Windows Media Video (.wmv) , 4.8 Mbps HD 720-24p Video. Why this? Because 1. it won't be a big file yet it will be HD , 2. Faster to render.
And by the way 3 hour rendering is normal. Fun fact: 3dsmax renderings can take DAYS , literally days for a short, very short animation.

AVI is fast but the quality is poor and the format is bad for YouTube. Try rendering in 720p, wmv. 1080p is nice to have but not necessary for the internet. It will still take a while to render but should be much faster than before.

I render in 1080p, but then again the program I use uploads rather fast so I guess it all depends on your set-up.

I Usually Render in 720p
But you could upgrade your RAM which might speed up the process.
Really depends though.

MP4/Mainconcept is a lot better imo and if you have a GPU, it can help you render fast.:)

Rendertime usually depends on the speed of your processor. That is also the reason that a lot of graphic and 3D designers use Macs for rendering, because they are simply just strong in that aspect.

As Bundyclan said, 3 hours is pretty normal, depending on the quality and length of your video.

If there's one thing that famous youtubers have always said when trying to become big on youtube, it's Quality over quantity.

That's why I do my videos a day or two beforehand and when they render, Go on my ps3.

Render in WMV at 720p. I doubt many people will watch your videos in 1080p because of how long it takes to buffer and if it'll look exactly the same in 720p. Also, 3 hours is quite short for a 1080p render. My friend was using this 3D rendering software to make a title for his geography project, it was 15 seconds long and took 2 days to render. 2 DAYS. But yeah, render in 720p WMV; WMV is master race.

Like I said, I have an AMD GPU with openCL. When I render with CPU only, it takes up to 1hr to render a video. When I use CPU+GPU. it renders for 3-10minutes only.

720p and WMV is more than enough.
Upgrade your specs if you want even faster renders.

I usually render in 720-30p Or if i want it to be an Important video, like maybe a challenge, thank you video or something like that i render in 1080-25p. If you want it to render faster i think you should get more RAM.

Thanks so much man! I already messed around with my render settings yesterday so next time i render if im not satisfied i'll definitely use those setting from yttalk

Thanks everyone on your feedback to this subject, i have made adjustments to my rendering settings and now i know some useful knowledge so this won't be a problem in the future
