It doesn't matter how much time it takes to paint a painting like that *u*
It can take weeks but it's amazing as that one. And you can do one in 5 mins that would look like ...anything..good :3

All my paintings that I have done are acrylic

I do drawings as well, and seeing as I have tons of those, I may put them up in the future

Sort of, I do a bit of classes. Many people think that you have to be born with artistic talent, but if you really work at it and draw a lot, it will end up looking good eventually.

I would never have thought myself a good artist a while ago, but now I am getting there

Agreed. I'm not the best artist, but ever since I was little I was able to draw decently, like enough to recognize what it is. Unfortunately I'm only good at drawing animals now, but I'd love to take art classes out of curiosity if it'll help me develop the skills I've gotten already. =)

Go for it

To be honest, not a lot of people can teach art well; I have gone through many terrible teachers. The one I found now though is great and has been a professional artist for over 30 years. You can really learn some great techniques, and there is also quite a bit of technical parts of art sort of. Stuff like color theory, color harmonies, analogous colors, etc.

Yeah, the techniques are what I'd like to learn. I'm not even that good at shading, but I'm good with sketches and stuff. I'll look around my campus to see if there are any art intro clubs, since I won't be able to take an official class here...

It also helps a lot to just draw. Also, if you see someone who is using a technique you think looks neat, just try to copy the way it looks as much as you can to sort of get the hang of it. I don't mean, that you should like, try to make the exact same drawing, but if you try to adapt it to your drawing so that it still looks like it's done with similar techniques...
And seriously, as an art student, the only way you'll learn is just by drawing.

I actually used to draw a lot in the past; I have several notebooks stuffed with sketches, but unfortunately some things have gotten in the way recently... I feel as if I'm losing touch with how to draw well. I'm hoping that come summer time I can get back into it. But yeah, the way I learned to draw was actually by tracing stuff out of coloring books, since I never actually wanted to color in the book. lol =)

It's always good to start off with images to copy at first and then start researching different images to try to create your own. All the ones I've posted so far are completely from imagination with no direct source (I did use some images for reference on textures and such.)
