  • Recording Skype

    Hi Guys,

Do you know of any good software that will record skype calls when you're playing co-op?
Or is there any other method of doing so?

I've tried looking for some- but I don't want to download random ones and delete them if they don't work- I'm in uni and have limited internet so I can't mess around to find the good stuff. :S

Any links or recommendations would be very helpful.

Also can you try and recommend free/cheap ones?? These lets-plays are only being shared between close friends and some family, so the quality doesn't have to be ridiculously high.

    Thanks in advance bros. :)

  • Well a little info would help, yes fraps does record skype, but are you talking about solely computer games or ps3/xbox gaming as well?

Fraps and Xsplit are the two i reccomend to record audio and gaming from computers

  • Solely PC gaming.

Are there any alternatives though? I'm currently using a free trial of Bandicam, as its 10 minute limit is enough for me. These videos are only going on youtube as "unlisted" and watermarks and stuff don't bother us.

I don't want to have to buy Fraps if it can be avoided (I may consider purchasing it in the summer, when I get a part-time job)

I also don't mind if it's a separate programme that only records audio- I'm fairly proficient with video editors and I can put it together there.

The thing is, we're only making these videos because we live quite far away from each other, and its our way of staying in-touch. Also, we come up with odd one-liners and reactions that we don't have in any other situation. It's just our way of preserving the memory of the first time my best friend swore.

    Thanks again guys.

  • Just on a side note because I didn't bother to read through here, there is an official Skype Recorder, that literally is it's name, to download for free.

In case you want to record them seperatly if you want to edit them differently.

  • I think you just might've been unlucky with Skype or with the people, I usually talk to 3 or more people and it's fine. Sometimes even up to 8 people and it's completely fine.

A lot of talking in each other's mouths but that can be fixed like in any other voice chat program, by putting on push-to-talk.

  • I haven't heard of Mumble before. Thanks for the recommendation.
Teamspeak3 sounds good with the ease of recording too.

I'll talk to the others and see what they think about it.

I've personally never had a problem with Skype before- but there are occasions when it plays up for the others- resulting in long delays. So I'm all for looking at other options.
The average we have on a call is probably around 4 people.

So as long as it works for that amount, I'm good.
