game making!!!?!

so bros.. in the last week i started to make a texted based game.. written in bat.
its pretty simple...

but im wonder if you bros can help with my dream of making a video game...
i need to know just random bits and main programming stuff.
and maybe textures..

this could be a great community building thing... anypony in? (learning and making that is :D)

I'm only interested if the engine you are planning to use is the Unity3D engine

well i really dont mind what we use...
the idea was a community get togeather and make a game that would satisfy a large audience...

im going to learn how to use diffrent types of programming styles.. next for me is java..
so if you're into horror then horror we can do.. adventure.. the works...

and yes i am a brony... and a very accepting one at that

I personally enjoy using Blender to create models and map out ideas. It's not easy to master but it is a valuable asset if you have it down.

This isn't necessarily a tool that you would use primarily, though. Continue learning java and maybe a few other programming languages to format the game.

sothe first thing we really need is an idea to produce the game...
while i try to learn java that is.. haha and feel free to post anything that may help in the processe...
this may end up becoming a long term thing for me and could help the bro army alot...

Sorry but your gonna jump from working in a bat file to working with Java..are you sure about this?

I learned some C++ basics in school but already forgot everything. (We made basic calculation programs)
Whatever you do, please don't even think about creating games in java. That's like the biggest mistake the creater of minecraft has made.
Here are some open source engines:
cubeengine.com/ The cube engines, the cube games are based on them. They make it very easy to create maps/levels.

Also there are many engines based on the quake engine en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quake_engine
As examples for quake engine based free games:
-Xonotic (Uses "Darkplaces" engine which is based on quake1 engine)
-Warsow (Uses "Qfusion" which is based on quake2 engine with some quake3 engine features added)
