Free is going to be a bit hard, you can try the camtasia trial that lasts 30 days,
But fraps or bandicam is pretty much your only option.

Fraps will only let you record about 30 seconds I believe, I don't know about bandicam, never used it.

I'm not an youtuber or what. But 39 dollars is a pretty reasonable price for an almost perfect recording software. Think about it, snagit sold those piece of crap for $ 45 >.> . Anyway, i once heard this so called recording software called... jing? i'm not really sure, but it worth a try

Bandicam @ $39. Can record DirectX games and also a screen recorder.
If you really want to make your vids look good, you have to pay for it. Camtasia costs more because of its free editing software. Not actually free and I bet it costs $250 alone. -
Hi kookimonstr1 if u download a free trial of Bandicam ... YOu can record up to 10 minutes only and with watermark
