Situation - Recording voice while family in the house.

I'm in the same position as you. They keep asking me. Why the hell did I buy a $100 microphone. Am I going to sing? They know I do youtube videos though. It's just awkward when they are in the house and I'm talking in my room alone. This is why I cannot unleash my full potential as a commentator.-.-

At the moment I have moved back in with my dad while I save up money for my own place. The problem is that my room is right under his attic office and so I know he can hear me pretty well. As you probably know from my videos I am rather...loud when I talk and my girlfriend has at times told me that she can hear my insane laughter through the floor into the livingroom. Commentating while family is in the house is incredibly hard and I still find it hard at times to truely be myself when I know my dad is wandering around the house. I have gone through quite a few failed videos, which has ended in obvious loss of many hours of recording.

As many have said you can record while your folks aren't in but eventually you will buck up the courage to just not care anymore. There are a couple of things that you can do to make things easier such as blocking the gaps in your bedroom door to stop some of the sound creeping out. You can also get sound proof padding for your walls which is pretty cheap to obtain

Do it while they're not home, I always do this, not only does it make me more confident, it also avoids awkward questions about why you're talking to yourself!

It doesn't help when they find your channel though, like my parents did. They said I swear too much
