  • Recording and editing gameplay for game guides

    Hey everyone!

So I recently decided to start a YouTube channel so I could post up some gameplay videos and guides for online games such as League of Legends and DotA 2.

I purchased a license for XSplit so I could record and do the occasional livestream on twitch, but I am looking for some help getting the correct settings and I'm also looking for some help for a free or cheap video editor so I could maybe add some voice or webcam footage. Any help would be appreciated :))

    Regards,
    Kriken
  • Basic editing program that has fairly good effects and editing is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11 (HD Platinum version of it I got.) I got it around 75€ in Finland. Good program and can produce 1080p content. Has occasional crashes but not too often.

  • Adding voice? That could be recorded for free with Audacity, and then merged onto the video with the computer's standard movie making software : Window's Live Movie Maker or IMovie.

Windows Live Movie Maker is very basic, but does what it is meant to do, and although it won't encode to the best, I use it to merge video's and audio together, before encoding it in Expression.

  • The software I use and I'd recommend is:

    Voice recording: Audacity
Screen recording: Fraps, Camtasia (for browser based games)
    Face recorder: Logitech webcam software
Editing software (for rendering too): Sony Vegas Pro 10

This is all the software I've used now for a couple years and it's worked fine for me :)
I respect everyone until they prove to me otherwise
