    • Need Let's Play channel guidance

Hey Bros :) , I dunno if i'm posting in the right section or not, but I'll put it here for now :pinch: .
ANYWAYS I was thinking of starting a let's play youtube channel, the only problem is I have no experience at all :( .

I really wanted to start telling you bros and others what I think about the games that I liked and (maybe) dislike :whistling: , while playing them and entertaining you bros and other viewers with some stupid fails, commentaries, and whatever comes to my mind. :P

My play style is always trying the harder difficulties but i'm not the kind to swear too much. Best Part. I like all games, adapt well, and I'm REALLY terrified by horror related stuff :D

I would greatly appreciate any tips and help that you fellow bros can give on organizing the youtube channel, avatar, how to comment properly, jokes, suggestions, and etc (any kind of tips and help are greatly appreciated either professional or not :)).

I guarantee, I won't forget any of you bros who help me (any bro who I met or talked to really :D ) , and please help a fellow bro out ;)

Subscriber count doesn't matter, really. Unless you're aiming specifically to get famous and out on the map.

Make videos and upload because you want to.
Yeah that's what I plan to do, but I actually prefer suggestions because it'll be interesting both for me and the viewers. Thanks for advice btw.
btw If any bro have any channel name suggestion that'll be great.

    • Find out what it is in other videos that keep you watching, whether it be their comedy, gameplay, or whatever. Try and get something yourself that you think will keep people interested.

Most of all, enjoy yourself when you're playing games or making whatever videos you want to make. If you're doing commentaries and you're dull, boring, have a monotone voice and all that, people won't stay to watch your video.

The start is tough, you won't get many views, have little subs, you won't likely get much feedback about your videos/channel and when you compare it to the youtube all stars, it's gonna look like you're miles away (trust me, i'm there :P). Just focus on the present and not on the future.

Focus on first impressions. Likely, when you start off, people won't watch your whole videos, maybe just the first few minutes. So try to get the viewer reeled in during the first 15 seconds of the video. You can do this with an intro or maybe just giving a really enjoyable intro to your episode. It's not hard and will pay off.

Like in the last paragraph, first impressions are good. So on your channel you'll want a background or such so people see and take interest rather than seeing a plain dull colour and ignoring it. Try to feature your best video too so if someone goes to your channel and watch the first video given (quite often), they'll see your best work and hopefully be impressed enough to subscribe.

I really think competition is a great way to keep motivated. If you start a channel with someone at similar times and try to keep competitive on either subscribers, video views, video uploads or anything at all, it'll keep you wanting to do better and improve, and not just for you :)

Speaking during playing a game or whatever you plan to do is hard to start and comes with experience. At first you may have a silent moments (i still do and i have over 20 videos out now xD) but its all practice. Try focusing on your speech often and think 'Am I talking right now?' If not, you should be so just say something :P Even humming and random tune is fine.

Make sure you have quality content. What I mean is, make sure your audio is bareable and your video is of enough quality so that people can understand whats going on. No one will want to watch a video which terrible audio and a blurry game.

I really suggest doing commentaries or anything that will use your voice. People really enjoy getting to know a person and after a few videos, they might enjoy your personality and watch your content even if they don't enjoy the game exactly.

Lastly, try to keep improving. Look at your videos and think 'What can I do better to make more people enjoy this?'. Whether it be working on your audio so its at the right level, improving visual quality, adding more humour, adding an intro, or anything! All the little things add up to make your videos watchable. Soon after that, they'll even be good enough so that people want to watch them, rather than just watching it because they saw it in their video feed.

I know it's a lot to read and I'm sorry about that but I hope that helped. You can check my channel for an intro and background I made, it's not anything spectacular but it shows even nimwits like me can make something good enough to reel someone in I think :) youtube.com/SofaKingWin
    • No problem, i enjoy helping people out ^^

Another thing is although you want to improve and keep people interested with music and such, don't use copyright material. Know your limits of what you can and can't do. If you want to use music (such as my intro), use royalty free music and always give credit to them. Don't use any video footage that isn't yours either. It may be tempting and you won't get caught early but in the long haul, it'll be a mistake. A good channel for nice music is youtube.com/user/AudioPad so i suggest you use them :)

Collaborations with other youtubers is very good too, firstly you get to share your audiences and secondly, you get to make new friends and it'll help keep you motivated.

Looking forward to see your channel grow and improve when you get one ^^ *brofist*
    • BTW bros, a question comes to mind. Do you bros have any specific microphone settings for the PC, any mic suggestions / tutorials?, and also is there no other way for custom thumbnails besides partnering with youtube?
    • I just use a cheap headset for recording my microphone. The software I use is audacity and I strongly recommend you do too. It's free, easy to use but if you know what you're doing, it can be very advanced.

You don't have to partner with youtube exactly but you have to be half-partner. This is that you need to monetise your videos and after a while (can be a day to a few weeks) you will get the option to add custom thumbnails. After this, you stop probably should monetising your videos until you get partnered with something properly.
    • @Valors: Same here bro. My friends find me funny because of my retarded actions. But verbally, I'm not really that funny. Heck, I can't even talk straight the first time I recorded my self. It took 5 months before getting used to commentate.:D Got a lot of subs after I built my new PC though.:D

Just enjoy and don't be discouraged if nobody's subscribing! You'll get plenty!
    • Thx for all the advice and support bros :D. anyways..now I'm wondering for a good game that a newb should start with (suggestions ?) :p . BTW this thread is also for any other bros that needed guidance for starting their own youtube channel, so feel free to post questions in this thread, so that other bros may answer and help each other while they're at it :)
    • Probably best to start with games that don't require much concentration, at least that's why I found. When I concentrated hard on a game, i forgot to talk and used 100% concentration on skill for the game :L That might not be the case of others but as said, i found when trying to focus on the gameplay too much, you'll speak less. So try a not so skill based game.

Yeah sometimes when I record gameplay and keep dying I forget to talk but it's easy enough to edit.

And this is why I'm with TGN and not an other partner network , since TGN allows me to post gameplay without commentary. Which will highly come in handy since I hate my voice and I'm not really talkative.
