Seems like a very good idea. It could only increase the activity and interaction between members.

It'll also prevent any potential "My life in a nutshell"-threads. Not that it happens, but I'm just saying it based off experience.

I think it would be a great idea to interact with other users, I'm not all that comfortable in using the shoutbox myself due to the high activity over there so I think the blog plugin would make it easier for some of the less active users to keep tabs on other users! :))
It might also keep any possible content that's too personal for the forum itself at bay and accessible whenever you wish to read it instead of having to stumble upon it in the topics by accident or something (not saying this is going on here, i've actually fallen behind on reading the forums, but this happens quite frequently on other forums I visit)

Just kidding, well, I don't but here goes, I don't feel I have the need or that I want an option like this, I have never been a blogger nor a blog reader, I just don't get it, and I don't see in what way it will contribute to the forum itself, it's just like the shoutbox, some user leave the forum itself unused and that is what more people might do with the blogs.

it's an good idea, i would love to read about others. And it would be a great oppertinity to start blogging.
