Walking Dead question

Can someone tell me why they keep killing everyone who gets a scratch when they all ready infected anyway?
I mean the scratch, bite, etc will only cause the person to die not to become a zombie. It's the virus that does that after they die. So why do they keep killing everyone off who gets a little bite?
Should they not just dress the wound?

They can't. From what I understand. They need to kill the person by shooting them in the head or smashing there head. If someone dies then they will come back as infected and the only way to kill one is to smash its brains or shoot it in the head.

If they are a zombie then kill the brain is cool. I'm just confused why they keep killing everyone before they are dead? They are only going to turn into a zombie after they die, a bite and scratch won't always kill a person

Wouldn't it be easier just to kill them where they stand?It would be less painfull then a slow death, wouldn't it?It'd be better for the person and the group

But the bite does not kill them!
It just gives them a chance for an infection just like getting cut or anything else. So they are just killing people for no reason

I don't really understand it too, but I think it may be just like when a walker bites someone, he or she will slowly get this infection deeper and deeper, so finally it'll reach brain core or wherever it goes, so person will become zombie, in dream or by fainting maybe, I don't know... There was this guy in 1st season I think, they left him by the road, because he was bitten, he was very weak and he was about to turn propably, so he prefered it to happen not in front of the rest of group.

I think it could be like that. Maybe the bite speeds it up or so
