The Perks Of Online Friends/Relationships

The forums have been archived. Please read this thread for more information.

    • Do you have online friends/an online relationship?
      NO OLOLOLOLO

-If yes, what advice do you have for others
Dont get too attached. Thats my main thing with online friends.
Relationships on the other hand, i had it once and it was with a girl living far up in sweden.
We met twice, but somehow my feelings faded away.

-What's your favorite moment with an online friend
I had too many favourite moments.
Too bad they never will return.

-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?
      Trust, but thats irl too.
Getting hurt by a online friend hurts more than a irl friend.

-And Who are your online friends?
it would take me forever to write this list.
    • -Advice: is not needed, making friends or other things are just "natural" I'd say....
-Good memory: There are a lot, almost infinitive but I'll try to remember one of them: When we were speaking ,(skype camera was turned on as soon as) suddenly the Jehovah's witnesses
appeared... god I laughed my ass off and right now I'm waiting for an ass implant.
-Bad thing about it: That we can't hang out for a long time but the worst is when something is wrong and you can't help them. You realize that as a true friend you're kind of useless when
he needs help really, in real life. You're just sitting there and you're like " oh well... that's awkward "
My online friends? There are a lot and it will only become moar. MOAR!

About the relationship thingy. I believe in them and always happy to see when it's working. Although there was one time when I was scarred shitless when
an online overly attached girlfriend kind of girl started stalking me... thank god I am the king of awkwardness and other stuff so I survived that one...
Anywho I do believe in them although it has a dangerous zone ,the first time they meet in real life. It will turn out to be the best or the most awkward date.
Hope the first one will happen with every1!
I think that's it... *looks around*... yep, that's it. For every onlinerelationship: BOOOYAAH
<--- Oh, you hate me son?
    • WHAT?! HOW IS IT THAT CORMANO IS NOT ON ANYONES LIST?! SCREW YOU PEOPLE! NO LOVE FOR CORMANO HERE! </3

Anyways, joke aside, I have butt tons of online friends and I will admit, they are heck of a lot better than the friends I have... Or should I say had. Yeah, my real friends decided to abandon me over a break up with my ex? Pfft, my online friends (some I've actually met in real life) could care less about such things. People here on PewDiePie's forum are an awesome bunch, you all seem to listen to people and help each other out instead of going all judgemental because a guy went prison. I still have other real life friends whom I hang out with because they are an awesome bunch like you guys are.

Online relationships? If Sword Art Online was real, then I would've had virtual intercourse by now >.> I've had about 3 online relationships and one of them I met in real life and we are really close friends now lolz (kept finding her on online games which was so weird at the start, then we just explored internet for online games continuously) but I will agree with other people about online relationships being less progressive if you don't meet the person in real life. I think online friends are great, this is why the internet is my escape from the jack holes in reality

-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?
Not knowing if they're lying or not.
-And Who are your online friends?
Too lazy to write them all, I'll probably miss a lot of people.

    • Apart from the questions, I'll just drop something here:
The perfect time to start/try such online relationships is when you're a teenager. Since parents pay most of the costs needed to stay alive and so on, you can easily spend money on buying flights etc. Furthermore it's not too hard to find a job that pays off maybe 200 a month, which you can then use to buy things, such as flights. Flights in Europe are only around 100 euros if the locations aren't too far away from each other, so that's affordable. Flights between Europe and America cost around 1000 euros (to fly there and back again), so it's also manageable to make 2 of those kind per year, at least from personal experience.
    • Do you have online friends/an online relationship?
      Friends, yes. Relationship, no :P
-If yes, what advice do you have for others
Eeeeehhhhhhhh- Be totally yourself. The last thing you wanna do is act like your someone your not, cause you never know, you MIGHT just meet this person some day.
-What's your favorite moment with an online friend
God I dunno xD I'm nearly always talking with an online friend so its hard to choose a fave moment. THE WHOLE CONVERSATION IS MAH FAVE MOMENT. :D
-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?
The fact that my online friends are better than most of my real life friends and I'll probably never get to meet them. I do know a few from my own country (Ireland), but then others are all the way over in America :c
-And Who are your online friends?
well for here, its a little too soon to say, but definitely Colgate, Dangerouscloud and Sharky. Love ye guys :3
I have others on YT, FFn, and dA too :P

    • Do you have online friends/an online relationship?
I have lot's of online friends, and I think they're the best people I've met. No I don't have an online relationship.

-If yes, what advice do you have for others
If you're really in love with eachother, just meet with eachother if that's possible. I think it's hard to have an online relationship because of the distance, but distance says nothing if the love is real. But then again, it's hard to keep track of your partner.

-What's your favorite moment with an online friend
I don't know, I have a lot of great moments.

-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?
Just the fact that you can't meet the person in real life sucks, there are alot of people I really want to meet but just because they live in a different country that's impossible.

-And Who are your online friends?
The people who are my friends on this website know, so I won't make a list :)

I have friends I've known for like 10+ years.
One even named her son after me.
      That's pretty badass.

That is so badass that I am going to give you my prized squirrel tail hat which I received for saving a mountain bear from a pack of angry hamsters. No take it, don't thank me, just take it....take iiiiit.
What were the 10% of those friends like? That is what we want to know ;)
There is always time for muffins.
    • Online friendships can be good; I have quite alot of them but you can never truly know somebody unless you meet them in person and actually talk to them. I have been in a online relationship, but it didn't go well'; My friend however has a online relationship and its going well. It all depends on the person on both ends of the relationship.

    • -Do you have online friends/an online relationship?
I have met a lot of people during these years that I have spent online. Some I consider friends, some I consider "people that I know". Relationships? No.

-If yes, what advice do you have for others
Just chill and be yourself. Don't start insulting others for no reason. This is why the internet sometimes screws itself. A LOT of people tend to randomly pick a fight with others just because they're on the other side of the screen. If you want to find friends and have fun while online, don't do that.

-What's your favorite moment with an online friend
Gaming with them and having conversations with them.

-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?
Not really anything. There is some people that I would like to meet in real life but that wont happen. So I guess that's a downside but that's really it.

-And Who are your online friends?
      There's too many.
Feel free to call me Alex. : )

      Lol, thanks. XD
The 10% were usually people that had a 'cult of personality'.
Meaning they were only out to be liked by the majority, and if you weren't part of that majority, they didn't care about you.
However, this can happen with people you meet in person.

~ I do have both online friendships and a online relationship, and my advice is: Don't let drama get in between that friendship, or don't let distance make you feel like it's not going to work. Trust me, it might be a hardship, but as the days go by, it starts to become less of an important thing and more into just a number in which how far your love stretches out, maybe even more than that.
~some favorite moments with my friends.....gosh that's such a tough thing to think of. There's been so many over the past few months, it's just too hard to even list them, BUT the one favorite moment of mines is the fact that I get to talk to them everyday just as I would with my real life friends :3
~some upsets of mine are, again: distance, not being able to actually see them and hug them and go do whatever stupid shit you wanna do... the list goes on and on, but these are just two.
~most of my friends are the ones I have on here, Skype, and Tumblr :3 (I'd rather not name them cause there's a bunch, but hey, you know who you are :3)
    • whats the difference from online friends/relationships and irl friends/relationships

      both share trust
both enjoy spending time with eachother (well to some degree)
      both tell eachother jokes
      both come and go
      both can hurt you
      both can love you
      both are basically friends
but, when you try to touch them, all you touch is a computer monitor

thats pretty much the only differance I can see :3

so here is how I hug my internet friends

      I love you guys <3

      There's quite some differences actually.
The internet is anonymous - friendships are made and broken again quickly. It's only a few clicks and you completely deleted someone you used to call friend completely out of your life. In real life, you can't do that. Furthermore things aren't as personal due to stated fact.
Also, when you have problems, internet friends can rarely help you. They can just sit there and listen, but can't change anything.
Real life friends simply have a wider variety to them - and therefor it's harder to establish and keep such a friendship.

I could list more, but that's enough for now.
    • Do you have online friends/an online relationship?
-If yes, what advice do you have for others?:
Just be careful in not giving too much away about yourself until the other person opens up aswell... I'd like to think I've made a few friends here in my short time on this forum :) as for online relationships? pffft, my opinion is don't bother but I suppose it ends differently for different people.

-What's your favorite moment with an online friend?:
I've had too many to count including deep heart to heart conversations, co-op videos, helping each other out on youtube and just having someone there who isn't there (if you get me)... It's just nice to have someone who lives far away that you can talk to about anything and they'll actually care :')

-What upsets you about having an online relationship or friend?:
I've only ever had one online relationship and she was almost 15 and I was almost 17. She was nice but the conversations we were having quickly became very sex orientated... it was more like an extended one night stand but with texts and online messages XD

-And Who are your online friends?:
I've known a few people from America for nearly three years now and someone else from Measham (near Derbyshire) for 2 and a half but in terms of this forum I'd say mainly Sharky and Br00tal :) but anyone who's nice to me - I'll be nice back :)
