Here is an interesting topic for discussion: what makes a Let's Play a Let's Play? What makes an LP truly great and what ruins it? What should you or should you not, do? I am interested in hearing your opinions.

You refer to post and live commentary- what makes the latter just "commentary" and not an LP? And in any case, there are many, many ways to be yourself, and not all of them are as good as one another- what makes one better or worse?

Most of the Let's Players I know are of the reverse opinion: people who talk while in the middle of playing a game just react but don't have much to add to the experience. And from what I've seen it appears to be true: a lot of people just scream or curse or say what's happening but never say anything interesting, informative, insightful, or funny. In contrast, people who record their commentary afterwards are able to sit down and think about what they want to say, take the video in a specific direction, say things in detail- or if that's not their thing, they're able to at least do more to speak clearly, confidently, and eliminate unnecessary footage and commentary.
