I'm just wondering if you have heard of a game series called Touhou which was created by a guy named ZUN, the game is a bullet hell game and heres an exampleyoutube.com/watch?v=4Nb5Ohbt1Sg (certain parts are fast forward by the person that recorded the video, it would be crazy if it was that fast XD) That was on the hardest difficulty which is insane but on the normal and easy difficulty it is a lot more friendly XD.
Well the story of the game is about a land called Gensokyo where it is populated by youkai which are like mystical beings such as vampires, fairies and such. The original main protagonist of the game are two girls named Reimu and Marisa but after Touhou 6 they added more playable characters. So for each different touhou game there will be different elements in the game but overall its the same for most. So in each Touhou game there is usually something strange happening in Gensokyo which Reimu an Marisa try to find the source of.
A touhou game to start with would be Touhou 7 or 8.

The bad thing about this is that if you buy the game the dialogue will be in Japanese XP
