Why does this seem so familiar? Oh right I remember there was another person here on the forums. Just like you. This is what I had to say.

Here is more for you to rage at:

1: I make racist jokes on a daily basis
2: I make rape jokes whenever I get scared on a videogame WHILE livestreaming.
3: I make jokes about Obama being in love with Osama.

Does anyone care except for you? Not one tiny bit.

Except now I can add you and that other forum user to that list. Still doesn't outnumber the other 5.7 billion people who don't care

It's all a matter of context. One person can take something one way, the other person another way. Yes, rapists are going to think it's okay because of their psychological condition, but it is not something that we can simply cater and change. If a rapist is in the psychological mindset that rape is okay, then it is hard to change that. The mind isn't that simple unfortunately. You can't simply tell someone with a psychological condition "this is bad." And have them believe that it is. It takes therapy. Sometimes years of it. Think of it like smoking. Someone who has smoked a lot can't simply just quit cold turkey. It has to be changed and removed a little at a time. And trying to get the possible billions of people that do these type of jokes to stop doing it due to people with those conditions is asking for a miracle.

Note: I'm not saying trying to rid the world of these types of jokes is bad, but due to laws and things like that, it is pretty much impossible to do so. Unfortunate, yes. But continually debating about it won't do quite as much as it possibly should sadly.

I'm not asking anyone to change the rapist or to prevent rape. I'm asking that Pewdie use the word more discerningly, more carefully. I'm not trying to rid the world of rape jokes, I'm trying to reason with the people who make the rape jokes, and I do think that debate about this is required, especially if entertainers like Pewdie don't know what they're doing. What if he does know what he's doing?

When it comes to catering to others, sure, we shouldn't cater to rapists. What we should do is keep mindful of what we do and what the consequences our actions might have, in this context, that does mean "catering" to rape victims. Even if Pewdie refuses to take his creepy rape jokes down a notch, even if he doesn't care whether or not rapists consider him an ally or whether or not dignified people are against this sort of behaviour, I will still consider the discussion worth having. All I can ask is that we do our best, but we can't know what our best is without conversation.

We should not need laws to remain decent, and most of the time, we don't. Social stigma and peer pressure can do a lot.

I'm at a loss for words, I simply can not express how pleasantly surprised I was at Pewdie's recent post about not making rape jokes anymore. Good on you, Pewdie.
