Retsupurae Strikes Again! Adults React To PewDiePie.

  • Well you know, one of the points they were trying to make is: rape joks just are not appropriate. They're extremely immature and even donwright hurtful to a lot of people- to say nothing of the people who hear something like that and are left with a very bad impression of the kind of person Pewdiepie is. Pewdiepie really should stop making jokes like that. His videos would be better for it and he would be able to appeal to a wider audience.

  • He actually used to be a bit calmer in that regard in his earlier videos. I started with the Amnesia stuff and he didn't rely nearly as much on the rape or shock stuff as he does now. Personally, it doesn't bother me. And I'm speaking as someone who should really not find it very funny at all. But humor is very subjective and people react to it differently. Certainly when many of us are much, much younger, we find the shock of joking about such inappropriate things to be funnier, which is why the majority of his audience are on the much younger side.

No. People need to stop being so serious. 1) He doesn't endorse rape or say it is okay. 2) He's not laughing at people who've been raped. I mean, think about it. What is he supposed to say when a scene (like Ao Oni for example where the Oni messes around with the girl) comes up where there looks like forceful sexual interaction is used? "Oh is he forcefully sexually assaulting her?" No matter how it is said people are going to complain about it.

Yeah, it sucks for those who have been raped. I have some friends that have been raped, but they also still take jokes about rape because they know they aren't being made fun of. You don't see me getting butthurt at jokes about cutting or abuse or things like that. If more people would lighten up and learn to take a joke then a lot of these issues would cease to exist. A world full of seriousness would fall into chaos.

But yeah, it was a really unexpected move on his side.
Actually it is right up Pewdie's alley to say something like that, I don't know why people are so surprised at him saying that. I laughed hardcore at it.

I'm still confused as to why he would even post that comment :S
Simple. To tell the haters "fuck you, your views just give me extra money, so keep watching and hating all you want." People need to stop being "omg pewdie whyy omg omg whyyy" and just laugh at the fact that he retaliated against the haters. It only became a big deal because everyone made it a big deal. If all the bros were just like "haha that's funny" instead of being upset about it, then we wouldn't be talking about it like we are.

    I DID laugh at it.

And I do get what he was trying to do there as well.

I found it amusing simply because that's how I deal with hate :')
But still, wasn't a smart move on his part but damn, people get too easily butthurt over the things that he says and does

I honestly hope the majority of these, were, in fact, parodied reactions. Because some of the more uptight, unfunny, unenthused comments were just depressing. I mean, have people got nothing better to get butthurt about in our messed up world? Really?
That is what I was saying ... Just leave them.. those are 'Modern Adults' :p They have nothing better to do with their lifes

Listening to it now. They make many excellent points that greatly illuminate their argument. Pewdiepie really could benefit from considering their analysis.
Hard to do that when like 15 minutes of the video they are talking about "lack of education" and "dumb" and "stupid". If you are going to discuss a topic, in order to have a valid, solid debate, that stuff should not be included. They tried to say he "has no material" when he created "characters" in amnesia that caused him to start getting more fans. People like Stephano. People like Mr. Chair. So of course stuff like that is going to be in the videos, because his fans like it. They are basically trying to say he needs to get rid of all of that. Why do that when it's what people like to see?

It seems these guys are misinterpreting how pewdie uses his "jokes". I think I said this in a previous post, so I'm going to reiterate it. 1) he DOES NOT make fun of rape victims, NOR does he encourage rape. 2) He only takes scenes that give impressions of what could be a rape scene. For example: The scene in Ao Oni when you walk into the bedroom and see the Oni messing with the girl. The way that scene looks, it looks as if the Oni is indeed raping the girl. So a person's first thought commonly would be "Is he raping her?"

I get where these guys are trying to come from. But let's look at for example the rape scene in the movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. That scene to a lot of people is quite disturbing. And that is way worse than anything Pewdie has done in his videos. So why is Pewdie getting so much hate yet not really hearing anything on that?

I dunno. I just couldn't find these points fully valid if they are using "lack of education, "stupidity" and "dumbness" to back it.

    /end rant >.>b
  • I had to agree here. They made a few fairly good points but completely muddied themselves by the continued veiled, passive-aggressive hostility. There was no reason to keep putting him down for what they kept claiming was his "lack of education". There was no reason for them to drag CutiePie into the argument by questioning her judgement and personality because of her decision to be in a relationship with Pewdiepie. (THAT pissed me off and took me away completely, by the way, where I did previously give them credit for fair points, it was a cheap shot at insulting him further by insulting her. They had no business doing that. It lacked class). And their continued "olive branch" offerings are completely hypocritical. If you're going to offer an olive branch, how do you expect to be met when you decide to resort to character assassination via topics (his personal life, education, relationship) that you have absolutely no objective knowledge about? I'm perfectly willing to listen to criticism about him, I'm not so anal that I can't have a calm discussion about what I like or don't like about someone or something. But don't expect to be met favorably if you can't even stand behind what you're saying without resorting to such cheap tactics.
