Bat-Gameplay! Bat-Commentary! Bat-Trivia! Bat-Humor!
Arkham Asylum- the greatest Batman game ever made. The greatest comic book game ever made for that matter. Games are about experiences, and well, we all want to be Batman don't we? Minus the unrelenting tragedy. This is the game we always wanted. Finally. You can be Batman. Freeflow Combat lets you clear the room in seconds. Silent Predator lets you hunt thugs like the dark knight you are. Gadgets a-plenty, characters well-known and obscure, brilliant voice-acting by Batman vets such as Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, a worthy Batman story by Paul Dini, richly detailed environments- this game cannot be praised too highly. It feels like a somewhat darker, more mature version of the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini animated series and that's great. This is a Batman who can feel, who has emotion and can express resolve without simply being "grim'n'gritty." This is probably the finest depiction of Batman and his mythos you will ever come across, effortlessly weaving together various interpretations into something rich and fantastic.
Given that I am familiar with both the game and the world of Batman, I am looking forward to this: there is a great deal to talk about and I would like to do it all justice. The gameplay, the presentation, the characters and their relationships, the mythos- it will be wonderful. I welcome any suggestions for commentary topics: there is quite a lot to say.
Part 1: I AM BATMAN!
Part 2: It's JOKER-RIFFIC!
Part 3: Paging Dr. Young, Dr. Chen, Dr. Kellerman
Part 4: The Death of Commissioner Gordon?
