play a game that will infuriate the hell out of you and record it. (i started with super meat boy on my channel. it annoyed me so much that I stopped being boring and deleted it) but then you'll get better at it and stuff. play what you like. start with a short lp maybe.

note: why make a mod when you can make a game. using unity3d. great ui. easy code(c# scripting over c++. c# is way easier). but still a mod is probably easier to recruit for.
