I hated Fear, but I actually really enjoyed Fear 2. Haven't played any others/the stand alones, though.

That's cool, horror is not everyone's cup of tea And yeah, if you're not a Lovecraft fan it's probably harder to get into. Really what makes it a cult classic is the attention to detail it pays to the mythos, which makes it incredibly immersive for someone like me, who loves that stuff. But yeah, the game is actually far from perfect in terms of mechanics. And the difficulty curve, even on easy, is balls-insane.

The thing is that I don't talk about unrelated things XD If we play a Slender game, we cover Slenderman mythology or theories. If I'm playing Call of Cthulhu, I talk about HP Lovecraft or the mythology in-game. I don't talk about the stuff I did last week or what I had for lunch of what I think of the political situation XD I sprinkle a few reactions or observations about what we're seeing in-game sure, but I don't think that it should be the focus of what you are doing.
