Not sure if this'll help, but you never know. Here's this Steam Support thread; I know it says for Steam saying it's not connected to the internet, but... again... you never know. XD; If anything, I would suggest to update your graphics card if it's the game that keeps crashing -- I've had the crashing problem with L4D2 when I first started playing it. If it's Steam that's constantly crashing, then I honestly don't have a clue other than what's in that thread I linked.

I only know of two things that'll let you capture stuff from off your desktop or while you're gaming. I don't know what you were using, so forgive me if I mention something that was what you were already dealing with. One of the things I used before was ManyCam before I got Fraps -- though, honestly, the quality of it is pretty bad. Thanks, though I'm not really looking for a 'build it yourself Alienware' -- or even a pre-built Alienware at all.
