For non JRPG, it's Mass Effect. But for JRPG, it's either Persona 4 or Persona 3. Both of which are epic.

Oh god, the King's Quest games... Hopefully this is better than the 2D ones.

It's by buying RPG Maker VX Ace, watching tutorials, having a jab at it yourself with a few tests, trial and error, writing a good story, making good sprites, and having a good illustrator.
