Greetings all, I am Raetac. I host a very small Youtube channel which I have called RaetacRages. Not that I "Rage" much, just a term I decided to use to bridge the gap between my name and whatever game I would be playing. It does roll off the tongue rather well, wouldnt you agree? Well then I guess it is time to get down to the details and proceed with the Template shall we?
Ah yes, my age is 39. Yes I'm one of the few older folk active on the internet, not as uncommon now days but certainly not the "norm". I have grown with computers and their technology during my teenage years and followed them as they started to take hold on the world and change it to what we see today. I look back to the days when I would watch Startrek and only wonder at the gadgets they would portray and then look at the things we have today, the mobile phone and the iPad been prime examples.
To me, technology is a wonderous thing and now I take my first steps into the big world of Youtube and what it is becoming. TV for the new generation and I have the tools to participate at my finger tips. For a single person to make a show worthy to entertain, and for the opportunity to have it seen by the world. I have had the taste what is to be that single person, to create entertainment and I must admit, it is quite liberating. But I really should stop my "old man" rant and continue.
The genre of games I like to play are generally Fantasy based. I use games to escape real life, not remind me of it. So the games I would be putting forth will definitely be as unrealistic as possible. No Calls of Duty or the like. The closest to reality I have played and produced is Saints Row the Third and I'm sure you can agree, that game is not realistic in any form.
Well, I think it was about 6 months ago I started to consider making video's for Youtube. Through many trials and tribulations, investing time and money into my PC system to make it capable to make a level of video quality that I was happy with (not an easy task, by nature I am a perfectionist to a fault) I created the RaetacRages channel a little over 3 months ago and uploaded my first video. A Lets Play of Minecraft with my kids whom I had corrupted with my own passion for games (not a bad thing I hope). Still wasn't the best by a long shot but there were many new things to learn.
Ah yes the future, well what for the future is this. To be one day partnered with a network that will suit my channel's content. Now I know this is an extremely long term goal but we have to start somewhere don't we? What I expect for the short term is to entertain, if I get one good comment a week telling me how the person has enjoyed my work that will be enough. But to get that I must put my name out there and my work and hope it is good enough to earn peoples subscriptions. So my immediate plans are to continue putting content up and search around for forums such as this to bring myself to be seen.
My channel is mainly devoted to gameplay of games that tell a story. And not any story will do. It has to be a story I can act in, bringing my own brand of character to the game... to the story. Majority of my episodes range around the 20 minute mark and I guess they are not the easiest for the general Youtube audience to consume, but for the people who like a good story I feel they are long enough. Currently I am producing quite a few series at a time, Skyrim (Modded and with Dawnguard), Saints Row the Third, FTL and Minecraft.
