Ao Oni 3D V0.3 released

Hi bros,

my name..... is Bram

And I just finished my latest creation which is a 3d version based on Ao Oni.
I've made the game length just about 10/15 minutes so it fits perfectly with one episode of a pewdiepie video.
I'm planning to release more and improve alot to this game. My goal was actually to get pewdiepie to play this, and for the bro army ofcourse.

It's a fps puzzle/horror game. I hope you guys will enjoy, and I hope pewdiepie will play it!

please don't expect too much, it's pretty difficult for 1 man to make a game.
Constructive criticism is very welcome!

EDIT: some people are having major lag so I've made a low resolution version. with half the texture sizes and 2/3 of the lights deleted. I hope it works, because that's all i can do! Link:

Things I plan to do for my next release:

- make it alot bigger
- save game option
- original doors (teleporting from one side of the door to another side of the door)
- more and better puzzles
- improved AI

I don't know much Ao Oni but I like the look of the game.

It looks nice and all. but maybe you could apply a cartoon filter on your textures?

I played it but I had major FPS lags... That could just be me though. I tried putting down the graphics as much as I could but I still had lags... I don't have any problems with other games though.

hmm... that's strange. I don't have any problems with it on maximum graphics, and so did my friend. I also downloaded it to see if there;s something wrong with it - but it plays at a steady 60 fps on my pc.

What engine did you use to make it? Using Unity/UDK/CryEngine would explain Riivalzz's lag. I'll try it as well in a few days, as currently my gaming PC's still on the working

Good luck on making further progress, I loved the original Ao Oni!

Major FPS lag here also. I don't like Unity that much now :V

Unity was used to make Slender and SlenderMod, both played by PewDie; it has major lag because of all the graphical effects and hi-res textures and all that. I tried to make a game once with it.. I couldn't finish it as I couldn't test it because of the lag :O

Maybe because Unity is quite an unstable engine or the coding is just done poorly. Never had problems with Unreal though.

What if you set the settings to fastest and 1280x720 ? :o

Didn't make any difference to me. I even put the resolution ALL the way down. 640x480 & I was still lagging. Not as bad but still a lot.

@Kneesocks, good to know Unreal worked for you. For me, Unreal lags even more than Unity, and CryEngine literally shuts down my computer. *sadface*

Okay, here's my feedback... well, first of all it's not bad at all for one man project! I think this could be very good with some more work. Mmm, I had screen on 1360x768 and graphics good - no lag... which is good I guess since I usually lag so bad in this type of games. Tho' I could say it did slow down like 20% when the music started but no actual lag. Uhh... I personally hate the Unity WASD movement - it's very stiff and when you want to make a sharp turn you have to sweep with your mouse and that's never good. I don't know if you can work on it but if you can, I suggest you do. Also since I'm a genius it took me a moment to understand I can pick up the keys only when the red dot is 100% on top of the item: I don't know how it would work to pick something up in a hurry if something was after me. I also had so much trouble escaping the Ao Oni creature because I couldn't make a sharp turn (but I mentioned that already yeah) after picking up the item that triggered him to show up. Oh and he scared the **** out of me. Thanks. xD

OK, that's all. I hope this was constructive and not plain silly... I tried. lol. But yeah, I suggest you keep working on it!
