The Suffering: Ties That Bind
Released for the PC, "The Suffering: Ties That Bind" is the sequel to "The Suffering," continuing the story of Torque and his escape from the Carnate Island prison. This time, a mysterious organization kidnaps Torque to study his connection to the monsters and evil spirits that first appeared when he was accused of killing his family and sentenced to prison. Torque must now escape from his captors and continue the investigation into the deaths of his family, all while fighting the same evil forces unleashed from Carnate Island.
While still a classic third-person shooter, "The Suffering: Ties That Bind" has several key differences from the original. Players may now only carry two weapons at a time, adding a new level of strategy. Torque's morality throughout the game also influences Torque's ability to transform into a super-powered monster and to utilize special attacks. Doing good deeds and protecting others increases Torque's morality, while killing others and refusing to save innocent people drops Torque's morality. Successfully completing the game provides players with the chance to replay the entire plot with good, neutral, or evil alignment, and the game alters the storyline to reflect the choice.
