Might as well do a little intro since the automatic greeting message made it sound so tempting.
My name is Heather, and I'm from Memphis. I just heard about Pewdie running the fundraiser for St. Jude, and, living near this hospital, I thought it was wonderful of him to encourage his viewers to send donations their way. I go to a small liberal arts college in town, and many of the students here intern and volunteer at St. Jude, some even subsequently working there. That's the main reason I joined the board. But not the only one!
I first heard of Pewdie over a year ago before he was even close to the fame he now possesses. I didn't really start watching him until earlier this year when I found his Afraid of Monsters playthrough. The winter months were a tough time for me, and the sheer knowledge that I had PewDiePie videos to look forward to after school really lifted my spirits. Funny how such little things have massive effects.
My boyfriend is also going through a rough patch, and once I introduced him to these videos, I noticed a stark difference in his mood (for the better, of course.) Now, we're always quoting him and watching his videos together. It's a great thing to bond over, that's for sure.
A little more about myself: I've been playing video games for well over a decade, and I'm hoping one day to be a video game journalist. (My dream job is to write for Game Informer!) I'm studying English, German, and possibly Film Studies at my university. My favourite movie is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and my favourite game is Mass Effect 2. I get scared very easily during horror games, so watching let's plays is a more preferable option.
I think that's about it for me. Sorry if I rambled on too long! I don't use forums often.
