  • Facecam help?

Well, it`s a recording problem. You see, I have this webcam from ArMeDiA, won it in a school project, it does record quite good, but the company is so crappy, that it probably doesn`t even exist, they don`t have a site anymore.

Problem is, I got the driver from a file storage thing. It work good tho, but if I try to record the facecam from the driver, and the gameplay+sound with fraps, I could never match and syncronize the webcam recording and the voice sound.

Problem 2 is that for yet another unkown reason, if I let the webcam software record both the webcam and my voice sound, the end result will be my voice sounding squeaqy.

I found this software called camersoft webcam recorder and tested it and it almost matches the voice sound and webcam perfectly, it just records my voice a little bit too low, nothing I couldn`t fix in Adobe Premiere Pro. But then again, the recording is fine but in Adobe Premiere Pro it becomes laggy and has no sound. :(

I can`t get a new webcam now, and if I am to buy one I`d rather gather money and get a good one...Does this problem has a fix?
  • I use FRAPS to record game sound and gameplay, and then record my voice in Audacity.

[when recording myself, i find 'Easy WebCam Recording' super easy to work with]

And then I combine those two using Sony Vegas Pro, and then render it. After that, I find that my file size is hilariously big, so I convert it using iSkysoft Converter and it works perfectly.

Try that and tell me what goes.

  • Syncing audio and video is always a pain in the ass. If you are recording the webcam and your voice separately, a good way to make sure you are syncing and timing it right, is to hold up fingers, and count 1, 2, 3, as you hold up 1, then 2, then 3 fingers.

As far as editing your voice and things like that, definitely use audacity. The program is easy to use and you can edit almost all audio formats.

Also check in your sound options on your computer and see if you may need to raise or lower the volume of your recording device, that may fix the problem.

Your best bet at this point is record your webcam, try that syncing option I gave, and work from there. It will make syncing things together much much easier.
