Now, I know this game is old, and there are only about 15 servers with people on them, but I just figured out how to create a server and I would love to plays this. And the cool thing is for people who don't have the right WADS, it''l download them auto for you! So you can sit back for either a few seconds or a few minutes, depends on how much. The current WADS I can use to create servers are the Batman WAD, Ghoul's Forest 3(Yeah, I didn't know you can play that online either!), Ghoul's World, the regular doom2.wad, and recon.wad.
