Please help me, i dled a non steam HL1 and installed AoM, after the staircase cutscene just at begining the game crashes. any soloutions?

Illegally? if so won't work. :-], Official disc or steam version is needed, same to work with Cry of Fear.

Reinstall Half Life 1, get the latest patches, get the latest Afraid of Monsters DC version, get the latest drivers, get DirectX 9.0c, try launching it VIA Windows XP compatibility mod, etc...

It costs $9.99 on steam. It would be much less complicated and time consuming just to buy Half Life off steam. It is a pretty fun game too, in addition to being able to get mods like AoM and Cry of Fear.
