Sup?
My name is Suppercut, and I came here so I could announce an idea I had. I figured I'd post here first, though.
I'm an otaku (that means I love anime and Japanese stuff) and an aspiring game designer. I first found out about PewDiePie when I was looking up stuff about the game Ao Oni thanks to kitty0706 who did a VERY short video on it. I came across Pewd's playthrough of it and I checked out his channel, and like that, I was a bro.
Before coming here, I came across a group of visual novel players who wanted to make a fighting game based on Katawa Shoujo. Seeing this as an opportunity to jump in and show what I could do with Game Maker 8, I took a long time throwing together a decent engine for their fighting game. It was solid and performed well. The artists and project manager were stunned and amazed at how far I had gotten along with the engine compared to their current Java work.
And then I was directed to the programmer already enlisted.
Unfortunately, he told me that they were adamant on not changing engines, which is exactly after I had sunk nearly a few weeks into the programming for the engine, and was close to finishing it. Feeling pretty bummed, I fell into a bit of a depression, since I already felt like I was wasting my summer, and programming the fighting game engine felt productive, and it was fun, regardless of a couple frustrating bugs I ran across. I knew I had no other actual aspirations of making a fighting game myself, and so the project files were shelved, supposedly never to be used again.
And then today I was watching some PewDiePie, and that's when inspiration struck.
