On the topic of "Pre-Set Responses", Castlevania: HD has something like this for players who don't have a mic.

With the press of the select button, The player can bring up a wheel of different responses. The responses are as follows:

      "Hello"
      "Goodbye"
      "Here"
      "Got It"
      "Thanks"
      "Sorry"
      "Oops"
      "Good Work"

I imagine a response wheel similar to that would suffice for nigh any occasion. But, That's if a response wheel is indeed being planned to be used in said manner.

The Source Engine already has a built in voice command feature. We just need to create our own and we're set.

Also for the screenshot , could you tell him to tilt the trees slightly in an other directions @ that / \ thingy?Spices it up a little.

I'll let him know thanks. Just for a heads up though, that image is for our new, animated start-up menu. There's gonna be something very unique about it. Just waiting for him to do some more tweaking to it.

We feel that shying away from cursing words doesn't make sense in a survival situation. I don't think someone is going to censor themselves when a some "being" is trying to kill them. So, there might be a few commands that have swear-words, but we're not going to over-saturate the game with swearing. We're not potty-mouths after all.

Well I hope you have decent voice actors then and will not sound as corny as the voice acting from Killing Floor and Zombie Panic : Source , since that voice acting was really horrible.

For what I've heard this imaginary Slenderman is supposedly a children rapist or torturer. Whether or not, he's after little girls. Voiceovers has to preferably be done by rather young females.

      Go, steampunk!

He also kills & attacks other people as well. Hence the players being thrust into the boots of 4 teenagers sent out on a dare to discover if the Slenderman is real.

    • Looking forward to this mod.
I think, as long as it has a little bit of replayability, it will be epic.
Just make it where the dolls can spawn in 100s of different locations or something, so we aren't always going to the same areas.
I'd love to explore a map a little bit and make it get scarier and scarier when he's out there.

To me, the scariest thing is when you know he's out there and he could be close,
but you don't see him for a while so it kinda makes you jumpy.

Then suddenly, he's behind a tree a few feet away and you scream your lunch up.

That would be possible with logic entities as far as I can remember. Although I don't think that its possible to do that much.

We're going to be doing our best to make the dolls randomized, to really put emphasis on it being a "different game" every-time you play. And, if anyone is interested somebody on the development team has already jumped; and they were only testing a map. Spooky.
