Hey bros so i have a question concerning capture devices,

I currently use a hauppauge hd pvr to record my gameplay, however i have just ordered a new pc, and i'm thinking about switching to the black magic intensity. However my question is does the black magic have the ability to pass through, or do i have to record absolutely everything all the time my xbox is on?
