I kinda agree with ken that youtube videos are sometime personal and deep. I would say that they are more in some particular cases interactive than movies.
Personal stories about pee bottles, xmas time with the family and a secret of saying "subscribe" were moving

the thing with the Japan trip is that you have to time it with the weather (it gets really cold in winter and hot in summer - you have to go when its nice temperature wise) and you'd need a tour guide - Japan is like a maze so unless you know Japanese or have someone to help you - it would be a difficult trip
getting sick sucks too and all - so sorry about that part but otherwise Japan should have been neat if you hit the historical places such as the Golden and Silver Temple and for me Tokyo is my fav. place bec. i like cities
