    • "As for me, I have always had to keep on the move. You saw how they treated me.
All because of those damn Desians!"
      My fists clench in anger.
"They believe all half-elves will become Desians, and it is only a matter of time, so they make hunting us a sport. Fun to be had in some kind of revenge!"
I remember my sister's death, how her body was desecrated before being tossed into a ravine.
      I mumble to myself.
"I had to give her a proper burial."
(Not even the elves, our kinsmen, will accept us...…)
    • *seeing Shin is upset, avoid to ask about the burial my sensitive ears caught he said about* Yes I am quite familiar with that. They used to spread all kinds of warnings and held a lot of public meetings. *frown* And the sickest part is that they give out rewards. How pathetic is that? *chuckle* You know, I had a bit of a trouble with the guards as well. I refused to let one of the female guards to go into my class and spread lies and hatred beyond those free artistic minds. Was worth it though... *raise head as the house appeared* Oh my, time flies by when you have fun indeed. (Ooc: cache.desktopnexus.com/thumbnails/859625-bigthumbnail.jpg ) I apologise if it is not of your liking but I did the best I could with this place according to the payment I get.
On the outside I may appear like an emotionless sarcastic piece of shit, but just like an onion, when you peel off more layers, you find the exact same thing every single time and you start crying.

If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
    • *chuckle* Hey, no problem. I am honestly visited mostly by any other visitor but humans. And frankly I like it. *nod to Shin* Why of course. As I mentioned it's not really a hotel but it has what you need. *point to the room at the end of the house* there you have a shower and everything else you need. Feel free to use any towel you feel like using, they're on the shelf. *shrug looking at his torn clothes* I don't really have any male clothes. However, those you have are beyond repairing so... If you could go with the robe for a while until Mildred is back so I can send her to get some clothes and everything else that's necessary.

    • "Ah. Thank you."
I walk to the room she directed me to.
      "Thank you!"
I close the door and proceed to shower and clean myself, washing all the dust and dirt from me.
The whole process only took about ten minutes, but was a complete transformation, changing my hair from dirty and greasy to clean and almost silklike, and my skin went from being caked with dirt to being clean and soft, elflike in its beauty.
      "Much better."
I dry myself off with a towel, which I set aside, and cover myself with a robe, which covered me decently, coming down to my ankles and looking like a set of royalty robes when worn by me.
      "Ah. There we go."
I walk out and sit down on a couch.
      "Thank you very much, Eldrid."
    • Janus followed the two in silence, entering the house and looking about.

"This isn't too bad." Was all he said, looking for a seat.
He found a place on the couch and immediately took it. He then took his blade from it's sheath and a rag from inside his coat, and began absentmindedly polishing the sword, not even noticing Shin.

"I've been meaning to ask something, ma'am." The mercenary said without taking his eyes off his blade. "And I'm sure you know what it's about."
Only now did Janus look at Eldrid, expression indifferent. "What, may I ask, is so interesting about that necklace of yours that it keeps grabbing my attention? Eagle eyes doesn't just activate for no reason, you know. Whatever it is, I'd like to find out now rather than suffer an unpleasant surprise later."

You know, most people call me insane...
That's what happens when I try to reason with people, they don't like it, and I eventually end up turning them to charcoal in the end...

Why are you looking at me like that?

Despite popular belief, I did not draw the avatar I'm using. I can't draw.
    • *think a bit* Indeed, eagle eyes don't do that. I know that better than anyone. *smirk* Well you can't fool everyone I always say. I only never expected it would be someone who I just happen to run onto. *look at both men* You both are too smart to deceive, I knew that from the start. *cover the necklace with the palm* This thing made all this possible for me. *smile* I apologise in advance. I had to make sure you are to be trusted. But, since I already invited you both to my home... there is no point any more. *reach up and unbuckle the chain* It's an ancient magic. *take off necklace and put it on table in front of them* Ancient elf magic that is. *slowly change back to true elf appearance(Ooc: consult character presentation for more information)* Well, cards are on the table then. Now... *go to get prepared home made tea and put it on the table* ...you will either pick a fight... *sit down comfortably across them and glare with no concern or nervousness at all* ...or we will just enjoy this magnificent tea. *take a sip smiling gently* Mhm...perfect.

    • *smirk* It's home made, I picked plants myself actually. *refer to Shin's question* Well, Let's just say I had a bad experience with a lot of races. Including half-elves due to their sceptical view of everything. As you know yourself. But I can't say I blame you all for that. You've been through a lot. From both sides. Human AND elf. *drink more tea*

    • "I see..." Said Janus, seemingly unfazed by this new information. "I suppose that makes me the only entirely normal being here... As I said before, I don't do discrimiation. You two are fine."

He remained silent, drinking tea until the Desians were mentioned.
"It's stupid, really. All of it."

Sighing, he put down his cup. And began to explain his reasons for thinking of it that way.

"The only reason the Desians exist is most likely because a small amount of half-elves felt they were wronged by humans. To be fair, we haven't given them reason to think otherwise, so they attack us in an act of revenge. Understandably, that strains relations. People start resenting the elves for the act, and their acts of revenge convinces more elves to turn Desian. I can tell, Shin, that you were targeted at one point. Tell me you did not want revenge for whatever us humans had done, I dare you. It's pathetic, a never-ending circle of revenge and hatred. If this mentality of "eye for an eye" continues, It will result in open war and massive casualties. I'm genuinely surprised that there aren't more people seeing it that way."

    • *nod to Janus* I couldn't agree more. Though humans are too stubborn to lend a hand first instead of "returning the favour" on everything that is bad. I thought getting to know them better and up close will solve a few mysteries for me, but they only confused me more with their wish for revenge that is actually pointless.

If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
    • "Well, that's simply because people don't want to see the war coming.
Humans believe the Desians are kidnappers and nothing more, and Desians want revenge on humans.
You're right that I resent humans, but not for my treatment from them. I resent them for not breaking this cycle of hatred. I resent Desians for the same reason."
I close my eyes in thought.
"No one is truly innocent in this.
Elves rejected half-elves and didn't try to solve any hatred.
Because of this, humans saw the half-elves as inferior.
Having been wronged by both sides, half-elves began to hate everyone, but especially humans who had abused them and treated them like garbage.
      Thus the cycle continues, unbroken."
    • I am ashamed to admit, but elves are the ones who could have and should have solve all this in a first place. I guess they thought of half-elves as a hole in a perfect harmony of their everyday. *sigh* So much power for so little sympathy.

    • "And so, the only way the cycle would be broken is if someone slapped the leaders of elves, desians, and humans in the face and forced them to play nice. Ha... Right..."

Janus sighed again, returning to the task of polishing his blade.

"It's not going to happen, they can't let go of their hatred. When a war does indeed break out, I'll be on the other side of the world when it happens. I may be a greedy sellsword, but I don't believe in genocide."

    • Eldrid: The rest would for sure scatter. They don't really have anything else but a plain idea of leader holding them together. A lot of them are harmless in opinion and actions when alone. They're actually quite...
Mildred: I'm home! *get into the room carrying grocery bags* Haha hey Eldrid you should have seen the look on merchants face when I... *glare surprised at both me and then at Eldrid* W-who are your friends? *seeing one of men holding his weapon she flinched* W-why aren't you in your human form? Are you in trouble?!
Eldrid: *chuckle* No it is fine. They're ok.
Mildred: Oh yeah?! *gaze at Janus's weapon* Why is there a human here then?! *hold on to her pendant, similar to Eldrid's that made her look human*

    • Janus smiled at the elf (Well, he assumed she was elven, anyway).
"Don't be alarmed, I've no malicious intentions. Quite the opposite, in fact. Suffice to say, nobody here is in trouble."

The mercenary sheathed his sabre into a scabbard at his side, the rag used to clean the blade disappearing into a pocket.
"There. Now perhaps I do not seem so threatening? I'd rather avoid causing an unnecessary fright."

    • Eldrid: *smile* It's ok honey, they're friends. The human guy is Janus, and the other one is Shin, half-elf we got out of trouble. *nod* Now, say hi.
      Mildred: *cross arms pouting* Hi.
Eldrid: *raise eyebrow* Mildred? You know what I mean.
Mildred: *not being able to look away from Eldrid's piercing gaze which she used on here every time she wasn't happy* Oh fine! *take off her necklace* I hate when you do that. ( Ooc: fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/201…l_by_senryuji-d5qtz33.jpg ) There, happy?
      Eldrid: *proceed with gaze* And?
Mildred: *sigh annoyed and speak as if she memorised a pretty boring poem* My name is Mildred, welcome to our home, nice to meet you all. *put on a sudden wide memorised grin that was hilarious*
Eldrid: *chuckle and drink tea* Good girl. Sit down and have a cup of tea with us.
Mildred: *sit and do as Eldrid said referring to Janus* Nice weapon by the way. *glare at him for a while and smirk guessing something no body told her* I see, the all seeing eye ay?
