    • "Heh... Rabbits, dangerous? Oh, that's a good one!"
Said Janus in response to Eldrid's casual beginning to a conversation.
"But don't worry, if we come across this killer rabbit of yours, I'll deal with it."

One thing that would come to mind is that the mercenary seemed to be a pretty damn good actor. The conversations between him and Eldrid in an attempt to look natural flowed smoothly, and didn't seem at all forced.

His eyes would occasionally wander to the "orphan" begging for Gald, where he would then frown, mutter something about "kids these days", and pay no more mind to it, treating the "orphan" like a worm unworthy of his attention.

In reality, the uncaring attitude the population seemed to have about them disgusted him.

You know, most people call me insane...
That's what happens when I try to reason with people, they don't like it, and I eventually end up turning them to charcoal in the end...

Why are you looking at me like that?

Despite popular belief, I did not draw the avatar I'm using. I can't draw.
    • *laugh sweetly and not forcing it* Oh come on! Have you seen those teeth? It's awful! Mainly because you never expect something like Rabbit to chase after you. I swear, I thought I was played by someone. *chuckle and look around at guards that weren't paying any unwanted attention. Just a look or two, but nothing unusual* If we come across it, I'll just let you handle it. *shrug as an answer to Janus's comment on the "orphan kid" when one of the guards though about reacting or not* Yes well I don't know, I work with kids as well as young adults so I can't really comment on that...It's not their fault, they do what they have to. I am only bothered that it is something they have to do. That they have no choice. *guard looked away and paid no more attention. Smile at Janus* We should hurry, it's getting dark around here.
On the outside I may appear like an emotionless sarcastic piece of shit, but just like an onion, when you peel off more layers, you find the exact same thing every single time and you start crying.

If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
    • "Yes, of course. Better hurry before the unsavory types come out to play."
As Janus made his way to the gates cutting through the crowd, he bumped into someone, and tumbled to the ground in an exaggerated manner.

      "Well, excuse me!"
He said in an irritated tone towards his chosen victim, a single, decently muscled, though not by too much, human man.

Said human looked down at Janus curiously.
The mercenary decided his acting needed a little more emotion by this point, pointing at the civilian accusingly.
"You should be apologizing right this instant!" He said standing up and brushing off dust.

The man began babbling in irritated, annoyed tones. The sheer amount of arrogance Janus displayed was pushing some buttons.
The argument descended into lame insults and sharp shoves within minutes.

And then, the first punch was thrown, to which Janus leaned back and dodged before it made contact with his chin.
In response, the mercenary threw himself at the civilian, bringing them both to the ground.

The distraction was working. Already the guards were moving in to seperate the two brawlers.

    • *jerk when Janus bumped into the guy and almost burst out laughing (Ooc: damn you I actually managed to picture that "exaggerated" thing lol) barely managing to keep it in and stop as soon as I realised it might effect the illusion and force myself to act again now seemingly disturbed* Oh my uh...Janus please... *step a bit closer with no actual intention to barge in* Let's just go he didn't mean to... *jerk and step away like a lady would do but not able to go as low as screaming for help but just yell at two men fighting* Stop it, right now! You're both acting like kids! *hit feet on the ground acting frustration and stress* Come on, really! S... *guards passed by and barged in. Smirk* My work here is done... *turn to locate Shin and realising I can't really see him clearly just give out a short and hard-to-notice hand movement towards the gate before turning back to fight and acting*

    • I receive the signal and dash through the gates, the illusion fading as I exit the city, and I begin my journey north to iselia, but I first wait, hidden in a tree, for Janus to come by.
He did promise to accompany me, and one can't be too careful these days.
    • "Alright, that's enough, lads."
Said one of the guardsmen as they pulled Janus and the other guy out of reach of each other's fists.

Needless to say, they were not happy.
"Let go! I'll teach that arrogant bastard with the stupid hat a lesson in respect!"

The mercenary's eyes widened with shock, an emotion that was most definitely not being faked.
"You...! You did not just insult... my hat...!"
Janus instantly tried to wrench his arms out of the grip of the guards, and only when they escorted the offending civilian out of sight and threaten the mercenary with a day or two in prison did he even calm down the slightest amount.

And then began the interrogation, the guards asking Janus and Eldrid the usual questions. Basically, they were questioning why the two were together, to which Janus told them he'd taken Eldrid out to dinner and was bringing her home.

Then, the cause of the event.

Janus just crossed his arms and frowned.
"He rudely bumped into me and began throwing insults. In my defense, I did not throw the first punch. I believe that is called self-defense."
"And that little fit you threw earlier?"
"Nobody insults my hat and gets away with it."

At this, Several guards in the vicinity sweat-dropped. One then turned to Eldrid.
"Can you confirm his story, ma'am?"

    • *smile sweetly at guard and nod* Well I was here, was I not? Of course I can. *tap Janus's shoulder* He was just fine and in a good mood before...well before the big guy came on our way and tackled him. *chuckle and wrap arms around Janus's arm to make it more believable* But I do know as well that accidents happen, he was just over protective, that's all. Please go easy on him. *make a worried face* I really believe he didn't mean it and I really need someone to escort me home, you know yourself how awful those goons can be. *smile* And I think you don't want to insult his pride as well now, do you?

    • "I see..." Said the guard. "It makes sense, and you do need an escort. Alright, fine, you're both off the hook. Watch yourselves, though, there's a dirty half-elf criminal on the loose."
The guardsman turned to his comrades. "Alright, fellas, back to your posts. You two can head on through."

      Janus turned, smiling, to Eldrid.
      "Shall we go, then?"

    • *chuckle amused* Haha, yes we shall. *mumble while walking out of the city* Great show you put up there *imitate his exaggerated stumble and laugh* I don't remember when I had so much fun. Now let us find Shin.

    • "Good, wasn't it?" Janus said once they were out of earshot. "You have no idea how useful my acting skills have been to me."
He laughed at Eldrid's mimicing of his over-exaggerated fall. "Yeah, my dives are overdone... But hey, It worked! I''m glad you had as much fun as you say, though."

Still smiling, he began actively searching for Shin, his eyes turning yellow for the second time today.
"Ah, there. In the trees. See him?" With his now-superior vision, it was easy to spot the half-elf

Janus' vision turned blurry for a moment when his eyes abruptly stopped being awesome.
"Never get used to that..." He muttered, rubbing his eyes.

    • *nod* Yes indeed it was pretty fun to act this all out. I love arts and acting is one of them of course. *turn and narrow eyes looking at trees catching a glimpse of Shin's outstanding hair and chuckle to half-elf after making sure nobody was around* Yes well you better try either rocks or cotton field next time. Lucky you it's getting dark. Otherwise you would be as hidden as an elephant in a grass. *turn to Janus and refer to his eyes* Hmh, seems to me you either need to practice more, or you're using it too much. *smile gently* Well they say the eye of an eagle can gaze straight into ones soul. If that's true, maybe there is more to your ability than just a perfect eye sight. *move forward* Come now, you really should consider getting to the village while it is dark. *to Janus* Risky for goons... *to Shin* ...but you will avoid potential conflict with people that might mind you being what you are. *frown* I still do not understand that much of idiotic perceptions.

    • I gently swing down to the ground.
(Janus could have seen me with his eyesight, but there's no way any human could have seen through those thick leaves...…
      No human but……)
      I approach Janus and Eldrid.
"Took you both long enough. I was starting to cramp up."
I look at the sky and shake my head
"Unless you want to camp in the wilderness, we won't make it to Iselia until tomorrow, and I personally don't.
      That is…"
I turn my head to Eldrid.
"If it's not too much of an imposition."
    • *chuckle* not at all it is not if you both don't mind, I don't mind it either. It is quite the distance but still close enough considering where you were supposed to go at this point. *smile* Besides, I love to help.

    • *smirk humbly and mumble back silently* Whatever makes you think that, Shin. *smile sweetly and walk further* Very well, this way then. *think about how would he ever notice anything after so much bother to avoid it but don't ask anything just think to myself* Indeed. Not bad, not bad indeed.

    • *along the way smile and break the silence not to make it any more suspicious on any matter* So, tell me boys, whatever were you doing in the city? *to Janus* Clearly you belong everywhere, but nowhere particular so why city? *to Shin* And you? Of all people you should have stay away. *chuckle* Too brave or a bit reckless.

    • "Me? It's complicated. Omitting everything irrelevant, the story is this. Got bored, went traveling, things happened, came across city, looked for work, failed miserably, then found you two."
Said Janus, telling his side of recent events without letting too much slip. It was on a need-to-know basis. As he was doing so, his eyes wandered to Eldrid's necklace. He immediately realized he was staring and suddenly took interest in a nearby squirrel.

I still haven't gotten a definitive explanation on that thing. Something's off about it. It might only be something about the material it's made out of or something along those lines, but... Damn, this is going to bug me. I'll ask again later, maybe I'll get a better explanation if I'm incredibly lucky. So... Not going to happen, but worth a shot.

    • *nod ignoring Janus's glare determined to stand my ground a bit more* I see. Well yes, it is hard to get a job there. I struggled finding mine too. *shrug* It took a couple of...modifications in my habits to work where I work now but it was worth it in a long term. *smile* Well, hopefully you'll be lucky soon then.
