I don't think he uses effects at all, it all just depends on where you put the light. It's all to do with lighting(I think, I might be wrong...) -

He definitely uses filter on some clips. I think he turn the gamma up, or the contrast.

Indeed he uses some effects but I can't exactly tell what they are and with which program they are done. But I do know that he records (not sure if edits) with windows movie maker. But he may use some editing programs like Sony Vegas.
