It is also infamous for the loud distorted version of music from the Sonic The Hedgehog game which it spawned. The meme is often associated with bad grammar and crudely drawn images. There have been many variations of this meme parodying characters of the Sonic franchise. The most notable variation of Sanic is Lil Sanic which is a parody of the Classic Sonic design and often associated with classic Sonic games. Sanic hegehog was a video made by 0nyxheart in March 31 in 2010. In the video the uploader draws an extremely mediocre Sonic the Hedgehog while a loud distorted version of music from the Green Hill Zone stage. As the video gained a massive amount of popularity in a short time, 0nyxheart deleted his channel to stop being associated with the Sanic meme other than his other videos.

“Sanic” is popular in the action game “Tribes”, the 4chan board /v/. and the drawing game Doodle or die However, the largest spread for Sanic was caused from the trend of creating purposefully broken game mods featuring him. Many Youtube videos were made featuring Sanic as game mods usually being either texture edits or custom models. Another major source of Sanic’s spread is the amount of animated trailers parodying official Sonic games or “sanicified” box art of them. These usually involve bad spelling, heavily distorted versions of Sonic game soundtracks and sometimes variations of the Sanic meme.
