Hey'all, so im using sony vegas pro 12. And basically a 10 minute video is turning out at about 900mb? Thats too large in my opinion and limits the ammount of videos i upload per day due to upload times. So i was wondering what settings do you guys use that keep the file size small and still with great quality. If you could all tell me what your videos turn out like in size and time and maybe add your settings. Thanks Alot! This is really holding me back, my internet isnt that great and every video i upload takes forever, how does a 10 minute video take 500 minutes to upload? Thats insane? Thanks guys!

I personally use Adobe Premiere Pro so the results may differ but I usually use a H.264 format. I also do it in 720p as 1080p doubles the file size and most people are happy with 720p.Check me out on YouTube! my 15 min video's are also like 900Mb, but they take 30-45 mins to upload, maybe upgrade your internet?If you have some spare time, make me happy and have a look:

I would like to know the same thing to be honest. Right now I use the Sony AVC file and that works not too bad. But the video does end up a bit blurry...

I found these render settings to be the fastest when rendering, and they also upload pretty quickly (usually takes about the length of the video or less for me).

What I do is set my bitrate to Low and set the quality to 720p. Ain't nobody got time for 1080p. I personally cannot tell the difference between a high bitrate and a low bitrate (as long as it isn't ridiculously low), and it saves quite a bit of filespace. Also, I don't know if you can do this in Vegas, but where possible ALWAYS set the format to .flv. The filesize is tiny compared to things like .wmv and .avi.

I second Handbrake, it's an amazing compressor and completely free. I convert most of my .AVI to .MP4 and lose hardly anything.

Same here except I haven't bothered with 720p as I am already recording in 1080p. I just queue up the uploads to go while I sleep. Same with the encoding.

It converts files to pretty much of format options and greatly reduces size (you can set the file size manually) while keeping the high quality. -
When you load the file into handbrake it'll show as whatever you recorded it as, I always just keep it like that, so either 1080 or 720, just click the MP4 option and always click the "large file" box if the file is big or it will not render right.

My 10 minute ones are usually only about 400. Are you rendering in 1080p? 720p usually does the job fine! Some 480p videos are alright, but if you want people to see clearly what you're doing, 720p is the way to go (sorry if I repeated what other people said, I haven't read all the replies on this thread) -
Personally I render my videos in vegas as Wmv V11 @ 8MBps HD 1080-30p Really good quality but not too massive size.
