Youtube is quite a hard working place. I know a lot of people who've had their channels for a very long time without any real response to it. I'm trying it out myself, but as many have already stated, no one watches a video with next to no views. I think I have an average of 4 views/video, it makes me a little sad, but I still have a great time doing the videos 
It would be a dream come true to actually have fans to talk to for a lot of people, but I guess not everyone can have that luxury!
