I use fraps, I think it's best but there are alternative programs. And yes do prepare your HD for a big file, I've seen some of my files go up to a 100gb.

And Windows Movie Maker is good enough for webcam recording I found out.

the highest amount of video gb i saw was 250 when i played with someone an hour, i suggest you dont play that long, but dont worry, when you use sony vegas, after you end the video (wich i suggest using fraps, and audacity to record your voice) you can render the file, i rerder it too wmv file of 8MP wich gives a high qulity of gameplay and low amount of space, there are some files that have low qulity and take more space, i porsanly use it, so i know how it works

Any descent video-recording software with HD quality makes your videos pretty heavy (depending the the time you play, of course). Use Fraps, it's pretty simple and so far, the best video-recording software there is (in my opinion). Good luck!

+1 for bandicam. I record a lot of League Of Legends myself over on my channel.
And it works very well with pretty much any other game too, only one I've really had problems with so far was Sang Froid Tale Of Warewolves. It has all the options you'd need and it's simple to use. You may have to play around with the sound options when recording different games(at least I need to, I have a 5.1 audio system and dedicated sound card) but other then that it should be smooth sailing all the way.

Pretty much if I would make videos,I have the programs,but it's not my thing.
Though I would reccomend Fraps,and if you have a bad mic use audacity to capture commentary.
