So, today I got a Beta key for FFXIV. Thought I share a bit about the game.
First off, to apply for beta, go here: na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ and then scroll down to "Beta Sign-Up"
So now some info about the game.

The opening cutscene depicts a lot more and is pretty lengthy.
There are quite a few classes to choose from in the game.
They are Gladiator (shield & sword combo), Pugilist (fist weapons and hand to hand combat), Marauder (great axe badass), Lancer, Archer, Conjurer (healer mage combo), Thaumaturage (Big destruction magic), Arcanist (summons familiars to fight for them).
Along with these classes there are tooooooooons of jobs your character can take. Ranging from Carpenter to a Black Mage and everything inbetween.

There are also 5 races to choose from, Hyur (normal humans), Miqo'te (people with animal features such as ears, tails, teeth, etc.) Elezen (elves), Roegadyn (weird beefcake orc things.) and Lalafell (childishly small super shota / super loli race.)
The gameplay has little loading screens, and loading time is very short. The combat is open world, and not engaged like typical Final Fantasy games. It is no aim-based (think of Tera, PSO2.) but target based. (click guy, hit skill, wait... think of games like Eden Eternal.)
There is so much character creation customization and item customization that its just glorious. No two people look the same.
The graphics and cutscenes are beautiful, even if you have to lower them (Like I did).
There isn't much server lag, but you may have to wait depending on the world and server you go to.
Just made this post to inform people of the game, and to expose people to a, so far, pretty good MMO of Final Fantasy.
But, the game is still in Beta. So its not perfect and is not completed. I don't know how long you will have to wait for a key, but there were tons sent out today.
