How to open RPG Maker Games?

    Hello,
    this is probably the most dumb question ever, but some rpgmaker games can only be download in .rar format.
    I've downloaded and installed the engines for the game (rpg gamer vx ace and the older version) but i can't see a way to open the file.

  • You only needed to download the RTP, NOT the tool to make the games itself.

    Step 1: Download and install WinRAR OR 7Zip. Either of which are must haves for downloading.
    Step 2: You should now be able to open the .rar or .zip file. If not, choose WinRAR for "what do you want windows to open this file with" box.
    Step 3: Now install the RPG Maker RTP. If the game is pixely, it's most likely RPGM 2000 series. If it's more modern with better looking sprites which are tall, then it's RPGM XP. If it's modern but sprites are short, it's either VX or VX Ace.
    Step 4: Sometimes you will get the games files in the rar or a folder containing the files. If you have the files, then make a folder with the name of the RPG game you are installing. For example: "The Witch's House"
    Now, click and drag all the files (EXCEPT for the ".." folder, leave that alone) into your folder. If you got the folder containing the files, then just click and drag that wherever you want.
    Step 5: Open the game's folder, and click Game.exe. DONE!
