How to make a sentence with "whereas" ?

      Hi bros, i'm asking for your help !
      English is not my native language but I can speak it fluently (if we can say that xd)

      So I don't understand how to use "whereas" I don't knooow the last part of the sentence just get weird when we use that word !
      (exemple from a test I had and I wrote this sentence) :
      "Word-of-mouth is real whereas TV or Radio ads which praise too much the delights of the product."

      My teacher made a cross on the "which".
      So the correct sentence should be "Word-of-mouth is real whereas TV or Radio ads praise too much the delights of the product" ?
      It's pretty strange, isn't it ? Correct me if I'm wrong ! :)

    • What your teacher wrote was pretty much right.

      "Whereas" pretty much means "on the other hand", if you understand that phrase. "Whereas" is used to compare two similar, but different things.

      For example, Resident Evil uses an over the shoulder camera effect, whereas Amnesia uses a first person camera.
