That's what developer says:
"What happens when DLC practices go too far? An indie developer makes a game that mocks the industry and its foibles, that's what! Defeat the bad guy, save the world and get the girl! But first you'll need to find coins to buy DLC to enable animation, sound and even pausing.
Thankfully this is just satire and all the DLC is purchased with in-game coins. But consider it a cautionary tale for the future..."
"DLC Quest" is a little 2D indie game, where you need to buy a lot of DLCs to do some missions. Your main mission is pretty trivial - you must save the Princess from the evil dude. But in the beginning of the game you have no sounds, no music, no ability to jump, no animations. Nothing. You need to buy everything as DLCs. And it's pretty funny and satiric.
To beat the game you must collect coins and buy new DLCs. Also, you can buy some DLCs just for fun. Like DLC for new outfits or zombies, "because in every game must be zombies" (it's from the game :D ). Well, it's pretty funny short indie adventure, that Pewds should try.

The game came out last year, but only yesterday has been released in Steam. So, you can buy it there:
