Helloo, I know there's a lot of Let's Players on this forum and I'm hoping one of you might have some tips/suggestion on how to help me out.

I'm rather new to Let's Play, but I capture game footage and audio with Fraps, and my webcam + mic with Windows Movie Maker. The issue is then when I edit I and try to link up Fraps with my Webcam footage I'll always have too much webcam footage, even after cutting the excess. The odd thing is there doesn't seem to be missing any segments of the Fraps footage, nor does it seem faster than normal. The webcam footage doesn't seem slower either, but after 5 mins there'll be a 2 sec delay that'll just get bigger and bigger after I've synced the start of the footage.

I record both webcam and Fraps in 30 fps, with Fraps splitting it every 4 gb, they're also both saving to the same hard drive. I have a pretty decent computer that should be able to handle Fraps, a game and webcam capturing.

So yeah, anyone out there with knowledge about this issue or who've experienced similar? Would really appreciate any help

  • I suggest you record with a seperate camera if your going for the facecam route. It works better because it runs on its own, and won't interupt your recording in terms of lag, etc. On my channel, my friend makes facecam videos where he records on a seperate camera. Uberhaxornova mentioned in a Q&A that he used to record with webcam for Horror games, but it was ineffective because of the delay so... yeah thats my two cents haha
