The game is rated 18+ (Pegi) because of violence and nudity etc.
Description:
Geralt of Rivia, the main character, is a witcher . In the beginning of the game Geralt is framed for murdering the the king of Temeria. He escapes from the prison and goes after the real kingslayer. In order to succeed, he has to regain his memory he lost in tragic events some time ago. The game is actually based on a book series of the same name. To understand the story of the game, you don't have to read the books nor play the first Witcher. The Witcher 2 features flashbacks of the events of the book series, but the story of the game is completely made by the developer CD Project RED. There are several endings and lots of difficult decisions to make in the game. The story is mature and non-linear and some choices have a huge effect on the rest of the game. For example half of the game (environment, characters, quests etc.) will be almost completely different depending on one decision in the end of the first chapter. Often there are no right or wrong choices: shit is going to happen to someone, no matter what you do. Also, the characters in the game are realistic and have believeable motives.
The combat in The Witcher 2 is a lot of fun imo. You can specialize on swords, magic or alchemy (bombs, traps, oils and potions). The combat is also pretty hardcore even on normal difficulty as you will die easilly, you can't use potions during the combat (must be used before!) and many enemies know how to block.
The graphics of the game are amazing and the game is very demanding and actually won't run on any single-gpu system on ultra settings (full hd) because of über-sampling-setting. The game also features beautiful effects e.g. motion blur and cinematic depth of field. The good thing is that the game still looks very good even on medium settings or Xbox 360. Voice acting and the soundtrack are (once again) great.
The main story of the game is rather long and highly addictive, but compliting side quests also pays off as they are interesting and grant experience points.
All in all The Witcher 2 is a game with really enjoyable story, difficult, tactical combat, and a lot of decisions that have quite a big effect on the story. Everyone who enjoys story-oriented deep rpg games will definitely enjoy this one.
